2018 1LE vs 2016 2SS

1 Attachment(s)
Dilemma here.

I always wanted Std, but when I bought mine early 2016 wasn't available and my wife wanted auto so I ended with a 2SS full eq except mag ride, 6pt brembos and sunroof.

Now, a dealer close here has a 2018 red 1LE that made me think to have a std car back.

2016 2SS 22k miles
+ Dual Zone AC
+ Leather heated cooled seats
+ Blind Detect and park assist
+ Interior ligthing
+ Memory Seats
+ Remote Start
+ Navigation

2018 1LE 5k miles
+ Mag Ride
+ 6 pt Brembos
+ Recaros

I like better black than red, but std is more fun to drive. They offered 27k for my car and want 38.9k for the 1LE.

I looked my car characteristics at KBB with zip code 78503 and result with a trade in value of 28-29 for a very good condition, but could not find the 1LE package to compare. My car has BMR springs with MMR 1LE replicas.

What would be the fair price for the 1LE? so I can do the math and negotiate a good deal. How much better does the 1LE retain value vs the SS, it is disappointing to have a 45k car devalued to 27k after 2.5 years.

Thank in advance.

I think you can shave close to $5k off their math.
They are probably shorting you on your car and they are asking too much for the 1LE.

I got mine new for about $100 more than they are asking for that used one.

Performance cars depreciate fast, but the upper trims level tend to drop and then level out for a bit. The 1LE will retain value a bit better than a regular 1SS or 2SS.

What’s mileage on the cars? 27k isn’t likely far from what you’re going to get out of a dealer. The 1LE, to which Ill assume is new, 38.9k isn’t bad. You can try to go lower. Honestly, I don’t think there is a lot more to grab out of the deal. Maybe 1-2.5k. Have Supplier/Friend/Employee pricing?

Dealers are more eager to get new cars off the lot: looks better on their dealership by 1. the OEM (rewards/perks) and 2. the public. Used car sales is pretty much singular about profiting on a sale from what I know.

Peak summer is a good time to sell.

27k for the 2ss sounds decent. Dealers have sold them for 30.5-32k recently (6-10k) miles. My buddy was offered 25.5k (highest offer) for his 2ss with 10k miles by local south florida stealers.

May be able to get another grand on the Used one from a dealer, or sell it pvt party, asking prices for pvt party seem to be above dealer ask prices

If you do sell pvt party, you'll lose out on the tax credit which may be 1000-2000 or more depending on your state tax rate

These are enthusiast cars. You have to understand that most folks out there don't care about the SS. Hence, prices are all over the map, you have to find the 1 guy who will pay you dealer prices on a pvt party sale. There may be several such guys/gals in you neighborhood or there may be none. Just luck of the draw.

1LE is used 5k miles.

I know how much my car could worth, but I dont know the right price for the 1LE

Thanks for the responses

You can find 2018 1LE's for 36k out the door in so cal. Best car for the money hands down.

39k is an ok price for a new 1LE.....I guess it all depends on how far you are willing to travel.

Yeah a new 1LE at 39.9 isn't too hard to find, and you can get the color you want

I paid less than that for my 1LE new. $38,900 is absurd for a used 1LE with 5k miles IMO. For what they are selling new I would guestimate it around 33-34k. That's just my .02.

You can search around here and in the 1LE FB groups and find people who are pretty regularly finding 1LE's new for $36-38k. (obviously non-PDR low option 1SS 1LEs)

From what I remember when looking at used and new 1LE's late last year and beginning this year is that the white, yellow and silver cars were almost always going for a better deal than the other colors (i.e. a $2k-$4k less)... arctic blue, black and red hot followed, with hyper blue, garnet red, nightfall grey, mosiac black and krypton green (used) in the upper end.

I traded in my HMB 2016 1SS for close to what the dealer is offering you for your 2016 2SS. Also keep in mind that your region will also play into prices.

A used 2018 1SS 1LE in red hot with 5k miles, I would not pay over $37k (100% max; car would have to be basically perfect condition). I would focus on $36k though.

$28-29k for yours, and $35-36k for the used 1LE.

They want your car plus $12k, go at them with your car plus $7k.

That sounds good to me. Lets try it.

Thank you

I personally would wait a day or two and try to put in some solid research. I’m in Winnipeg (Canada) and I just found who had 1le’s and called them and asked to speak with sales. I told them I was in the market for a 1LE and I have the money to buy it but I want it at $500 over cost. Needless to say, I’m hoping I’m going to pick up a 1SS 1 LE tomorrow in black, with heads up display and performance data recorder. I haven’t seen the price on this car yet, but I have a feeling it’s going to be around $45k Canadian out the door (approximately $34,700 usd). This is a brand new car, not a used one.

HZjr 06-14-2018 10:20 PM

I placed the offer, my car +7k for the 1LE. Lets see if it works for them, as I understood, the car was from a salesman there, must have room to negotiate...

Thank you for your advises....
