"only cool cars have black bonnets" - R. Hammond

watched episode 11 of Grand Tour on amazon prime last night and the hamster made the comment that "only cool cars have black bonnets...fact".

He was reviewing the new fiat 124 abarth but I would be curious what he would say about the 2017 1LE. The fiat is starting at 40k Euro (about 42k $) which is slightly more than a 1LE :der:
It might be fun to drive but with a 0-60 of 6.8 sec (I believe that is what he quoted) there's no question which is the better buy.

Hi kparker!,
the Fiat 124 Spider Abarth is not a competitor of the 1LE Camaro.. it's a Mazda Miata based car and it's got a 1.4L turbo engine and a basic price similar to a Camaro Turbo Coupé here in Europe.

A 1LE has got a 6.2L engine and is just another thing from all points of view.. come on! :sm0:

See you!!,

Right, I got all that. And maybe the Camaro SS 1LE is priced higher over in Europe but over in NA the SS 1LE with PDR option is going from 41k to 43k USD. I'm not sure what Fiat will charge over here for the 124 abarth but in Germany it's starting at 40k Euro. That's basically the same price for less car.
You can't compare performance, but they are priced the same.

Hi kparker,
you are right.. the price has got no sense at all! The Camaro is quite interesting for the Europeans, if you compare what you can get with your money.

The basic Fiat 124 Spider Abarth has a list price of 40,000 EUR here in Italy. The 1LE Camaro is not sold in Europe at the moment, as the ZL1 isn't too. We only get 2.0L simply called "Turbo" (priced at 42,300 EUR, including 8-speed automatic transmission) that is similar to a 1LT with RS package and the "V8", similar to a 2SS and is priced at 48,500.00 EUR with manual transmission.

No way I personally would get a Fiat instead of my Camaro! :D

Eos,
Nice meeting you up here on the forum. I'm moving to Germany this Fall and bringing my 1LE with me :)
My wife is from Italy so we are usually down there often (Massa, Toscana). Maybe there's a Camaro owners club in Europe for meetings and I'll see you there.
I look forward to driving through the Alps soon :)

I'm going to disagree with you there. I've been looking for a car recently (ordered the 2ss). But, the cars I looked at were a 2017 F150 Raptor, Scion FR-S, and the Camaro. Because I could only buy one, they were all competing for my money.

In other words, every car is a competitor with every other car for a limited amount of money.

That's quite a cool thing! Good that you're not moving during winter time.. Germany can be quite cold! :)

I don't know if there's an official European Camaro Club.. I've found an Italian one but it doesn't seem to be too active at the moment! Tuscany roads can be VERY fascinating..

Makes me want to turn on the engine and go for a ride!! :)
Unluckily today it's quite cold and grey outside.. :frown:

It is true if you focus on price only.. but it's not always working like that. There are some extra variable aspects to be taken in consideration. A 2017 F150 Raptor, a Scion FR-S and the Camaro are very "different". You can buy them at almost the same price but you'll discover that customers and their expectations on those cars are totally different. They're not homogeneous.

PS: I love the Raptor looks, too! ;)

See you!!,
