Selling well or not?

Seems conflicting to the news of GM adding a 3rd shift (which I think was planned after the launch ramped up) but I just got an email from the dealer where I took a test Drive 1 month ago saying, "the car you test drove has just had the price reduced".

So one, it's been sitting on the showroom floor for a month.:confused0068:

And already a price reduction???

I know some folks have been getting sticker and even below very early in the launch based on other posts, but a nice looking, well equipped 1LT shouldn't be sitting for a month for a supposed hot selling new car, let alone having a price reduction.

Also noticed on my GM card bonus through February the new Camaro is included.

Could also be a simply ploy to get me back in and have them show me another car.:iono:

I've seen some sitting around here in Phoenix also and we have year round Camaro weather. I was a little shocked. 4 cylinder rental fleet orders?

Every dealer around here sells their SS's in a few days at MSRP or close to. But most will not pay MSRP and are going to wait I think...like me.

BlueSteel07 01-04-2016 07:22 PM

I've seen the same 2SS sitting at a dealership, I drive by every day to work, for the past 2 weeks or so. I think they want $47.5k for it (MSRP).

Sledgehammer70 01-04-2016 07:30 PM

The few dealerships around me can't keep them in stock. They had a nightfall grey one that sat for 2 days, but I guess people who wanted it couldn't qualify via credit for it.

Everything I have seen, these machines are selling like hot cakes so far. The one member on this thread I believe drove from Cincinnati, Oh to Becky at Rodgers Chevrolet in Michigan to buy a 2LT. So, customers are willing to hunt these cars down and go where they have to and snatch them up as soon as they hit the lots. Don't matter if its a LT trim or SS trim. People WANT these cars.
So, to answer the OPs question, Selling well or Not? The answer would be a definite YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear what you guys are saying, but what you have is anecdotal evidence at best. In order to get the real picture, you'd have to have the actual sales metrics nation wide. Sure the newness will eventually wear off and supply will exceed demand, but I think we're a ways off from that point. Everything I've seen tells me we are definitely on the upside of the sales cycle and imho it will stay that way for a while.

For you guys waiting, the time to buy will be on the back side of the sales cycle. When supply exceeds demand, you'll start seeing the huge rebates hit the market as dealers try to sell off excess stock. Sucks for us who buy now because of course that tanks our value as well, but that's the price you pay being an early adopter.

Cheers.

I'm thinking there will be a lot setting and the dealers really haven't received a lot of the ones they've ordered. Remember a 2ss is around 45,000 and I've seen some over 50,000 on dealers lots. Its pretty tough for the average guy who wants a Camaro to pay 45k. You are going to see a lot more V6 purchases this year. They run good and you can buy a nice ride for mid to upper 30's. Discounts will be a comin.

 Hi Number 3

Based on the inquiries I've received, seems the
interest is primarily the SS. I've had a couple of
2LT orders, but no real lookers at the 2LT I have
here in stock.

Well of course that's the real way to know the whole story. But what are we going to give but what our eye test tells us here without the numbers yet.

In 2014, the Camaro sold something like 94,000 cars, total. About 74,000 of these were V6s.
I do agree with you, more V6s will be sold. That's what I bought. Again, it came down to money. Could not come up with another $8,000 or so to get the 2SS the way that I wanted it. Bells and whistles like MRC, NPP, Automatic tranny, etc.....So, instead I got a loaded 2LT for $39,600 as my very first Camaro. I am thrilled to be a part of the Camaro family.
Just didn't get the darn NPP dual exhaust option!! Next time.....

That's why I mentioned seeing huge rebates. That's when you'll know we're on the back side of the sales cycle. I don't think you can tell anything that's going on simply because a car sits out on a lot for ____ weeks / months or whatever - there could be a ton of factors that cause a car to sit out on the lot other than a slow down in demand.
