Gutted primary cats
In search of a set of gutted OEM primary cats. Anyone have anything?

it would be hard to gut them with the curve pipe.

It's possible. A couple friends run them and I had a set before my long tubes came off

I can't say I gutted my Camaro's Catalytic Converters, but I did on my 2006 GTO by putting a several foot long steel rod through the guts over and over again until everything was out. Once they were gutted I had them coated inside and out to decrease temperatures radiated through the exhaust.
Because Texas inspections are visual, the car passed without issue. Because I run E85, the exhaust smell is not a give-a-way of the catalytic converter's condition. |
I did New Era with Magnaflow cats

If you carefully cut or grind to remove the weld you can then remove the most curved pipe and get access to the Catalytic Converter's guts. After you've removed everything go to a welding shop and pay for them to TIG weld them back up. I guess the welder might charge twenty-five dollars to weld up each Catalytic Converter.
I believe the power gain for no Catalytic Converters is about fourteen horsepower total. This number is per a Race Proven Motorsports video on YouTube.com. They did a comparison dyno test on one episode. |
I've been wondering about this
GA is visual inspection also |
I ran gutted cats before my headers her in California. But with myself getting caught up with emissions, I have to go back since it wasn't an issue here. Wishing you luck in GA
