ZL1 Sway under throttle
 

New ZL1 owner here, upgraded from a 5th gen 1LE so made a pretty big leap. Noticed some sway when I really get on the throttle, back end feels really light and sways even when I feel I have it pinned. Any suggestions? Just something to get used to?

What tires are you running in the back? Is your car stock?

BMR lock out kit in the rear with help, along with their upper/lower trailing arms. Really solidified the rear end on the track.

Either the bmr lockout kit plus trailing arms or the gmp solid rear cradle bushing. Either one will lock down that rear end for you.

I honestly love that feeling. Like it's stepping out but isn't.

I get the same feeling when I get on mine. I kinda enjoy it.

If you're looking to fix the issue I would have a quality alignment done first before replacing parts. One other item to check is the condition of the rear tires and confirm even wear, also obviously tire pressure.

I have zero tail wag in my car, its 100% stock other than the alignment. Its straight as an arrow at WOT, unless the rear tires let loose and spin.

Car is completely stock with stock tires.

I honestly believe this is what it may be. My initial gut was to get it checked out asap but i would figure that I would ask to see if there was something else feature wise that I'm not aware of that would minimize it. Mine is 100% stock with less than 9000 miles and the previous maintenance records looked promising but still plan on having another alignment done.

I get the tail wag as well, but the traction control is screaming when that happens

I have had that problem even after the BMR cradle lockout kit, as well as BMR toe rods, control arms, trailing arms and cradle braces.

Alignment is very important. Also, as suggested in the other thread, turning off traction control helps quite a bit.

Be cautious of your dealer doing your alignment if you do not have a high level of trust working with them. The first two alignments done to my car were from the dealer and they were both garbage, I honestly think it was user error because they have quality alignment machines and the "print outs" looked good that were given to me after the alignment. The street driving and track manners said something completely different which left me frustrated and questioning the car.

I ended up finding a locally owned truck shop that had a new Hunter Eagle Eye alignment machine and worked with the tech on getting the specs I wanted and wow did it ever make a difference. Street driving was noticeably better but on the track it was an incredible improvement, very neutral and predictable after the track alignment. Worth every penny.
