Katech ZL1 Build
2 Attachment(s)
Well... After many many months of research, phone calls, emails and lots of whiskey.... I decided to go with Katech for my ZL1 build. Their reputation & proximity to my house were major deciding factors. The decision was between Vengeance Racing, Nickey Performance or Katech. Thanks to all the forum members who I sent many PM's to! Your input, advise and experiences were much appreciated! :happy0180:
I dropped off my 2017 A10 ZL1 at Katech last week and my build starts this week. Baseline dyno came back at 535 RWHP, only modifications being Roto-Fab CAI & Borla Atak Cat Back Exhaust. The new ARH 2" long system will connect to a Borla S-Type Axle Back w/NPP. I have ordered 17" Forgeline GS1R Beadlocks that'll be wrapped in NT555RII's so we can put the power to the road. All stock parts will be for sale once I pick them up. |
lol jesus christ thats going to be a build what is the estimate on power and do i even want to ask how much $$$ ?

No, neither you nor my wife want to know the cost. |
Good choice, you will have a great motor and SC combo. Looks like you aren't going with E85, maybe a good idea based on fueling limitations and simplicity/reliability of keeping with standard fuel. You could always add a second tune for 100 octane or maybe a pump gas/race gas mix for race track days.
One disappointing thing about the Katech warranty is that it doesn't apply on track. Weird considering we should be getting these modifications for use on track. On the street, using this power immediately results in illegal activity. |
Nice!!
Very similar build to the one I'm currently working on. You must be just as excited as I am! |

I couldn't get over the possibility of voiding my warranty and then having the oil pump fail(my ZL1 has a build date of 4/17). So if they were going to pull the motor to swap the pump, I really shouldn't pass up the opportunity to swap the cam & do the head work. Because paying to pull the motor twice makes no sense, right? Everything is justifiable if you try hard enough and I did. |

While the motor is out anyways might as well do everything at once. I currently have the P3 gauge, but thinking about switching to the Banks unit. |
Personally I would have them install the e85 sensor and tune for it now while they have your car. You don’t have to run ethanol now. The tune will adjust for it if needed but you can still just run 93 as long as you want. If you add it later you are going to pay for tune and dyno time again. Should only be a few hundred more to do it now.
But either way, that’s obviously your call. That’s a nice build and your gonna love the extra power. Congrats! |
