Hurst short shifter install time

Hi. I purchased this Hurst short shift kit for my 2016 SS and wanted to see if anyone has installed this kit and the time it took.

The instructions look pretty clear but I've not done this job before and wanted to get any feedback you all might have before I start. Thanks for your assistance and I appreciate any advice you may have.

It's fairly easy if you can turn a wrench and have proper tools. Did mine on jack stands and wheel ramps. Think it says about 5 hours, but if you start in the morning, you should be cleaning up and driving by the evening

I'm also expecting this mod in my future. Really liked the improvement on my 5th Gen that the Hurst shifter gave. I'll also be laying on my back with jackstands under all 4 corners.
Are there any other tips to be had regarding install on this one?

Thanks in advance :thumb: !

Great tips. I've been thinking about getting this mod done. Even with all the great info and tips about the install process, it looks like a lot of work!

it was a pain, and I had a lift and somebody that did it before... lots of stuff has to come off and the trans needs to drop down FAR in the back... best mod I ever did BTW, say it took 4 hours with two people..

Really appreciate the input "oldman"- your words carry weight. Won't wear my rose colored glasses starting this one. But if it's the best mod so far, then its gonna happen. Thanks again-

So did you put that bad boy in yet, I got the pistol grip version...

Not sure if you're asking me or Skeeter, but I'm still in the planning / waiting for cooler weather stage. Here in S.Utah its been 100+ every day for a month.

I like the looks of the pistol grip, but I put the old metal 'T' handle on my last Hurst and in summer it would nearly scald my hand to shift after the car had been in the sun. I had to go back to the cue ball.

What's the pistol grip made of anyway? I do like how it looks.

I think you can buy it in rosewood... which would be sweet. Mine is metal...

Saw the install and was like WTH! Barton in the Hellcat goes in topside, from inside the car.....less than an hour taking your time....:-(

it took me about 2 1/2 hours and 3 beers. I wish they made a chrome shifter like I had in my 5th gen. I think it looks a lot better
