Speedo cluster gauge

Guys I need your advise as to what to do. So like a year ago or more I had a problem with my rpm needle jumping up and down and I took it to the deale and they said the cluster gauge needed to be changed. My car is a 2016 ss1 which came with a top speed on the speedo of 200mph. So they changed and I never paid any attention until now that I been driving more competitive I just realize they replaced it with a base cluster gauge that has a top speed of 160mph. Now I can’t pass that speed. What should I do? How should I approached the dealer and tell them about it? Do you guys think they will refuse to fix it as it has been a while? I never realize neither I really paid any attention but you would think when you take your car to Chevrolet dealer that they should know what they doing so that’s why I never even bother until now.

Definitely call them and get them to fix it.

Yes get in touch with the dealership that replaced the gauge cluster and tell them they put the wrong one in the car! They screwed it up and they can fix it.

Seems like they put the 1LT or 2LT clauster in your SS...

I don't even know how they managed to program this cluster successfully, there must have been compatibility warnings galore they had to override.

Do you think they can refuse to replace it. I called them and they said why I didn’t called soon and that of it was wrong is been more than a year and I should had problems.

I told them and they said they were going to take a look since it still has warranty. They said they replaced according to the part number.

Ask them to check any SS Camaro, they will see that the cluster is going farther than 160.

So I called them today guys and the lady who I talk too didn’t even k ew what I was talking about. She said that of it was a wrong part I should have had problems with it and it’s been more than a year and I said nothing. I explained to them that I never notice since they an authorized dealer and I trust their job until recently I been driving competitive and saw my max speed is 160mph and I checked an old video I had of my cluster which was up to 200mph. She said they used the right part. In short she never understood that my issue was with the wrong cluster nothing else. And I also wonder how was that possible to put a v6 cluster and didn’t get any codes or affect my car. But ima take it to dealer next Monday and see what will happen. I want your opinion as to how should I approach with this issue since it’s been more than a year. And it was a paid service.

Talk to the Service Manager or even the General Manager if you have to go that route! It was their foul up but I do understand their point about you not noticing something was wrong before now. Good luck!
