Yer Basic Pony Car - Again

Well after enjoying looking at the effort by Sesiom Summers in his thread to come up with an idea for the 7th Gen, I decided to revisit my original idea for a back-to-basics pony car ala the original Camaro.

These snaps show where the project is at for the moment. There isn't an interior, and it needs some detail work such as hood and trunk seams, and I need to figure out what I'm going to do for a front fender turn signal indicator.

I wanted it to have somewhat of a 1st Gen vibe as far as simplicity, and I pulled inspiration from several of the other early gen models as far as styling. It's not meant to be a track car; it's for the other 98% of the customers who want something sporty, something fun yet not over-the-top or street racer-ish.

The whole idea here is to get back to basics and try to reignite the original fun and success of the first gen pony cars when they came out. This concept is of course updated to a more modern style, but it could basically be put together from the parts bin as far as what's under the skin. The body and interior would be original, but pretty much everything else would come from something they already have.

Okay now based on past experience in here, it won't be long before somebody does the OMG THAT LOOKS LIKE A... (whatever) and posts some ridiculously not-even-close image from something in the past. Take note; this concept IS SUPPOSED to have a somewhat retro vibe, so don't think you're successfully attacking and destroying it by bringing up something from the past.

Now... let the games begin. :pop2:

I like it, cab height will do better for visibility.
Needs a bit more grill area to allow for cooling the 6.2 though.
One of the better renditions I'm aware of, nice work.
Chevy, take note.

It reminds of 90s car in a bad way. I appreciate your work, but honestly if you are into designing cars I think you should start with a drawing on paper how the lines of the car should flow before starting to model. :)

I think you may be getting that vibe from the short (height-wise) nose and BBS style wheels, a la 1990’s BMW.

Some good work here, though. Keep at it!

Looks like a cross between a 2008 Cadillac XLR and the front end of my old 1986 Monte Carlo SS . I would say there is some early 3rd gen Camaro in there also but I rather just block those totally from my head . Good effort on your part though.

More grill, different wheels maybe more cowling in the hood.

Kudos for your continued willingness to share your ideas......and take the critiques.

Is it your software? Or are you proposing that many straight lines?

Tail lights are interesting.

As pointed out the front looks a bit like an old Monte Carlo.

Too much like a 5th gen. The 1st gen design theme has been played out. I'd go more in the direction of the 2nd gen but with a 3rd gen type rear hatch.

Nice work. Buy yeah, my first thought was, "looks like a Cadillac product more than a Camaro."
