GM illuminated bow tie installed

Dealer installed the GM illuminated bow tie, I was able to watch the entire install, it's super easy, This is installed on a 2021 2SS 1le.

We did not have to remove the front end, at least on a 2021, I'm not sure about other years? We did need to remove the air box, and it threw a code.

Also we needed to loosen, *NOT remove*, the metal plate, around the hood latch, to fish the harness through the grill.

On the 2021 2SS 1le the harness Plugged in to the drivers side DLR *NOT the head light**

The DRL plug is tucked up in the front end pretty deep, and is attached to the frame on some rubber grommet?, So the DRL plug is not just hanging loose, it's fixed, and it's a somewhat of a slight Challenge to see, and reach, and pull apart.

Perfect Fit ! Bright ! & Good Quality !

Those are nice! How much does the dealer charge for the install?

Question: is your grille the same grille used on the 2019 SS with the flowtie in the bumper cover and no bow tie in the grille?

Reason I ask is would it be simple to add the illuminated bowtie to a grille that’s never had any bow tie at all? Yours came with a non-illuminated bow tie from the factory correct?

Thanks for the info. I think I’d like to add one to my car also.

That looks really good. My wifes new Blazer has one and its neat looking at night. I didn't get one on my ordered Camaro 2SS 1LE (Do not remember if it was a option with the 1LE package or if I ever get it. Dang plant closure')). Be very careful at the carwash or when washing. Wife took her Blazer through the auto wash. When the wash was done the lighted symbol was just hanging there by the electric cord. Three of the four fasteners snapped. She went to the dealer we bought it from and the service advisor said your problem. Not covered by warranty. I called GM'S 1-800 number. We all speak with service manager. This is a $495 part through the dealer. Brought it back to show him. Whatever he found in the computer system said not only is it covered by GM, being a LPO dealer installed option, it is covered under the three year/ 3600 mile bumper to bumper. Ordered on Friday replaced on Monday. I hope nobody else encounters this, but now you know its covered.

Try not to unplug the MAF sensor on the airbox - it will throw a code every time. Maybe if you remove the airbox lid first, you can set it off to the side without unplugging in. Just a suggestion for anyone reading this. I guess if you are a GM tech, though, throwing codes and clearing them is not an issue!

Dealer did mine to but I got the light up door sills also they took off the front end.
Took 1 day for both. Installation was free . I paid the cost on Chevrolets website for them that’s all and tax I believe. But it was the dealer I bought the car from not a different one if that makes a difference.

I've been eyeballing this too - the installation looks pretty straightforward and totally within my meager DIY skills.

I did mine on my 2020. Super easy and absolutely love the way it lookshttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fb190965a9.jpg
