2018 CHEVROLET CAMARO ZL1 1LE FIRST TEST REVIEW http://www.motortrend.com/cars/chevr...t-test-review/ |
Motor1.com and Car and Driver also posted their articles.
Team Camaro just dropped the mic on the performance car scene. Racecar with luxury features for the price of the average Cayman. And the best part? Chevy won't limit the production of it. And you know Chevy Dealers won't have $15,000 markups like Ford dealers. |
Nice find.....

MT Review of ZL1 1LE (Mod please delete. Did not see threaded created earlier)

Great write up!
|
"However, Randy Pobst did lap the ZL1 1LE at MRLS, and the results are stunning. He managed a 1:34.30. For some context, the previous-gen Z/28 did a 1:37.82. The sixth-gen SS 1LE ran a 1:37.77. Last year’s Best Driver’s Car winner, the carbon-fiber-tubbed mid-engine McLaren 570S, posted a 1:34.58. The 2012 Corvette Z06 used to be the production-car record holder. It lapped Laguna in 1:34.43. "
That's pretty incredible. |
Camaro, smashin' bitches since 2017
I have no brand loyalty, i just appreciate good product, what GM is doing right now is amazing. I hope the stigma/stereotypes will go away soon, these achievements (cadillac, camaro, corvette) deserve respect. Prior to my zl1 i had only ever owned Porsches, BMWs, and an Audi (except trucks), and they got me! |
So, other than the obvious ride quality issue (which should be of 0 surprise to anyone with a pulse), it got a glowing review.
For the price / performance point, simply outstanding. |
That is a fantastic review and damn, 1:34 at Laguna! Flying! I can't wait to see the video of Randy lapping it around there. I do have to agree with the reviewer on one of his nitpicky comments....the name lol but if thats the only negative seems totally worth it. Chevy really nailed this one. Bravo

Just remember as a daily driver this may not be the car for you -
"Let’s get the bad news out of the way. As a result of the decision to hard-mount the dampers to the car—and this is me being charitable—ride quality is not great. Being less kind—especially if you’re on ripped up, lumpy pavement—the ZL1 1LE’s ride flat-out sucks. It’s brutal, and over big bumps at speed, the rear end seems to run out of travel." |
Nice...

All the magazines can do at that point is nod in agreement or, go in some crazy direction and say it's fine on the streets of Detroit. Ford forums will no doubt persecute it as not applicable since it 'cannot' be driven on the road. |
