2016 2SS COMPLETELY DEAD AFTER A 4 MINUTE ERRAND

I have had my car half a week now and this is the second time it has been completely dead when I get back from running into a store. Once Friday when right after I bought it. And just now. Has anyone had this issue?

Sounds like a bad battery.

Definitely.

Thank you man. It died right when I got home again. Scared the crap out of me when the steering just went out. I'll update this if they find it is a bad battery and/or alternator.

Usually the alternator will keep it running even with a bad battery. I'd check the connections. You may have two issues now.

Thank you man. Yeah, it was acting very strange. Never had a car do that before. It wouldn't turn over, just reset the gauges and then ask me to roll down one window and up and the other. When it did try engage the starter, it would just tray rapid fire with out me pressing and looked like a light show in the car. A very very dim light show. I'll give updates on what I find out. That way if someone else goes through it (hopefully not) there will be a potential solution.

Also, I checked the connections by the fuse block and they're solid. It was dumping rain, and I was just trying to get it parked so I wasn't blocking the road. Anyway. Thanks for the reply.

Just got the car back. According to them the battery was toast. It was sitting on the lot for awhile before I bought it and seems to have developed some shorts in the battery. Just got it back and I will update you guys if there are updates to be made on this issue. Thanks everyone for your help and support with this. I greatly appreciate it.

Sitting on the lot for some time would do it. Glad they found it fast and it more or less is just the battery. Enjoy your Camaro!!!

Good to hear it's a minor thing.

Broman16-2SS 01-20-2017 08:30 PM

Thanks guys! I was definitely glad that it wasn't something major. And yes, I definitely will! Best car I have owned by far!
