Toyo 888r
Got these on the back
Ever since temps started dropping they really need to get some heat in them before they hook The Nittos and Mickey Thompsons were never this bad though Anyone else run toyo 888r ? |
I’m on my second pair. My first pair hooked great. I went the the track this last weekend and spun like crazy. The only thing I can think was that I set the launch rpm to 2400 and was coming in too strong. I should have tried leaving from idle. I’m at 824rwhp

Thanks guys

are you guys expecting a stiff sidewall road racing tire to perform like a drag radial?

Unfortunately I was never impressed with the 888r, never hooked well new or worn. Not to mention noisy. I'm now going to buy the PS4S for daily driving over the 888s.
I'm convinced no one should expect much from a street tire. If you want great traction, get a drag pack (15/17) for the strip with bead locks. Other than that expect some spin. |

Once these Toyos run down I'll put the Mickey Thompson Streets on. Honestly I've found the best daily driver/fun tire within reason were the Nitto 555r I need to try the 555r II soon |
Only tires I use are MT Street Rs, R888R, PS4S. I find the grip to dailyability level in that order.
I find R888R to be extremely grippy. Are you using them for dig racing? If so then I can understand they'd not be the best. From a roll though I'm not sure any non radial beats it. Maybe they're almost worn? |
I've cut a 1.69 on R88R's in an otherwise stock ZL1-1LE. I had to do a pretty big burn out first. I like em other than the noise.
