Potential of a tuned LT1 6th Gen ;)

Don't know if its a repost. The new LT1 is the shit, period.

Pay attention to the torque curve :hail: :hail:

That is impressive.

SlingShot 10-01-2013 08:52 AM

That's about the same gains as a LS3, 20-25 rwhp/rwtq ...

Nice

You mean a L99? Just a tune wont give you anywhere close to 30/29 without CAI or LTs. Even a tune and CAI wont give those kind of gains. Auto are another story because they have all the tq management and restriction from factory.

Saw this earlier, it is posted up in a thread in the Other Cars section. But still I agree. The LT1 is a beast. Basically 485hp/485TQ with a tune ONLY...and they may be able to squeeze more out of it with more development time for their tunes.

By the time they are done doing all of their mods for this new engine (cams, heads, intakes, exhaust) we are going to be looking at a 550 - 600 HP N/A engine. Crazy!

No, LS3 ... the Vette's gains were 23/22 which are typical for a stock LS3.

Here is a stock 1LE that was just tuned, no mods ...

Still 7hp/7tq lower, signiicantly more for a first time out tune. LS3 is beast, but this one will be crazy.

23rwhp/22tq are not the norm for a stock LS3. Clearly the best you can get from a tune. Anyway, if its the norm its just good news for me as I'm untuned right now LOL

Just call me stupid then, because I just don't get your 7hp/7tq lower math ...

Vette: before=408hp/407tq after=431hp/429tq gain=23hp/22tq

1LE: before=361hp/362tq after=384hp/382tq gain=23hp/20tq

Like I said basically the same gains

I agree with what you are saying, but you also should keep in mind this is the one of the first if not the very first tune we've seen for this car, while the LS3 has MASSIVE amounts of mods and tunes available. I wouldn't be surprised to see better gains coming for sure.

I think most people are missing the point of the new motor. It's not about MAX power at the perfect RPM. This Motor is clearly not set up for that. But what GM created is a motor that puts out very impressive torque numbers in the lower RPM range. And still has the ability to put out a lot of horsepower and the Upper rpm range. Something that the LS3/L99 does not do.

A vehicle with the new LT1 even if it had the same MAX HP as a LS3 would be significantly faster. As the LT1 is way more power under the curve.

Its about time.....that's what Dodge did with the new 392 Hemi in 2011. Gobs of low end torque and still have the upper RPM power with it. If the 6th gen is lighter and they throw this LT1 in it, that will be damn nice!!!

That's mainly due to the direct injection used on the LT1. It's the same as the v6, if you look at the dyno graphs the Tq is flat ...

That and the variable cam timing.

KMPrenger 10-10-2013 12:52 PM

In addition the the above great results with just a tune....check this out.

LG Motorsports put a C7 on the dyno with headers and no cats. I know the SS can make some nice gains with headers and no cats, but I didn't think they were quite this much!

Their testing with NO TUNE shows a nearly 30HP and 47TQ gain at the wheels!
