Glove Box Cord

I found this in the glove box.

I see where the plastic end is supposed to go in the right side of the door, but can't see where the other end is supposed to be looped around.

I tried squeezing the box to release the side tab stops to get behind the box, but seemed really hard to do and didn't want to break it.. Is that the right way to get behind it?

Thanks.

It is extremely hard, but yes that’s how you replace the cabin air filter. There’s threads on here and YouTube videos also on how to do it. I actually had to use two crowbars to get the sides to bend. Terrible engineering.

OK, Thanks, I'll take a look.

Yes, as the Dúnedain king before me said, this is how the glove box is supposed to be dropped. The retention cord you found should be attached to the right side and then looped around a tab.

I use one of the curved plastic trim tools from a set similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/MICTUNING-Rem.../dp/B01KXN7LE6. Don't be afraid, it won't break, just be smooth but definite with your pressure.

Well I guess the cord loop came out the crimp and therefore came out of the damper. I tried to get the whole box out so I could access the damper on the back of the box frame, but it would seem you have to pull the whole dash off, and it's 108 out in the shade and I wasn't in the shade so I gave up and I'll live with an undamped glove box. lol. Thanks for the help.
