How to disable ATM 2020 v6 ?

Looking to buy a v6 with auto but does sport mode disable AFM? Or is there any way to disable it with out a tune. Need Warranty

Drive modes won't disabled it. Outside of tuning you can by a range device. I'm considering that as well

Sport Mode doesn't disable the AFM. Phastek makes a disabler for the 2010-2019 models but it doesn't look like one is made for the newer models.

Range Technology makes an AFM disabler but they don’t list compatibility with 2019 or newer V6 engines. You would want to contact them for details before you buy one. There are numerous companies that sell them.

You can disable it by driving in manual mode with your paddle shifters, at least that is how my 18 2SS works... All you have to do is downshift one time and it will stay in V8 mode until you turn off the ignition... Not sure of the newer models but I would think it would be the same whether it is a V4, V6 or V8 but who knows???

From what I understand, you can remove the electric motors from the AFM valves (3 small bolts) keep the wires plugged in and just hang the electric motors under the car securely. Valves will be always open.

The V6 AFM valves are spring-loaded. They aren’t electronic actuators like the V8. Disconnecting the actuators won’t prevent the engine from activating AFM mode internally. I think that’s what the OP is trying to accomplish.

Oh, Ok than he will probably have to have it tuned out.

I have to ask, why would you even want the AFM disabled? Like, this is the least logical thing I could think to ever buy, for pretty much any reason.

I don't have AFM anymore as I supercharged my V6. However, the extra fuel econ when I was just driving to work or whatever was really nice.

Because it's not seemless like it should be or like it is on other vehicles. It's kind of annoying in my opinion

After reading lots of reviews online, I called Range to ask a few technical questions. It was like talking to a kid who was still in high school. "I'm not sure. Not that I know of personally. Maybe someone else who works here would know." I asked about using an OBD2 extension cable with an inline switch. He never heard of that. Not much help.

The Chevy dealer says the V-6s are not having the same AFM failure issues as the V-8s. It's still annoying though. The converter unlock on deceleration and then abrupt lock-up when stepping on the gas pedal again is more annoying.

I'll still likely get one.

I recently (2weeks) got the range module and its worth the $189. No more delay :mad2:from switching V4 to V6. I enjoy my car now.

How bright are the lights? Distracting? Which color is the least offender? Put tape over the lights?

I hate the throttle lag... Do these plug in's work as they claim?
