Poll- who had a failed oil pump on their Camaro?

I did and am curious how many others have?

Please list your year, build date and mileage at time of failure. I’ll go first:

2018, Oct 2017, 2,650 miles.

Curious too...
Looks like it’s more 18 than 17 ?

I'm hoping this is a rare occurence.

I've seen several people post about this, both on here and on ZL! Exclusive Facebook page.

Why won't it let me see the poll results?

Question for you guys whose pumps failed. Had you had an oil change yet? If so,what mileage? My car also has a Oct build date and I currently have 1465 miles. Going to get oil change tomorrow. Just curious. Thanks.

2018 build was July of 2017. 6005 miles oil pump failure.

I'm kind of curious what circumstances may have lead to a oil pump failure.
My was built in OCT 2017 / 18 MY and has 2900 miles on it. No failure yet

Seems everyone with failed oil pumps are from build dates from July -October 2017 from what I see thus far. Mine failed at about 2,500 miles, build date Oct 17. First oil change by dealer was at just under 500 miles, second was at about 2,000 miles. If anyone works for GM, a supplier or has any way to help us figure out if it was isolated to a bad batch, but now fixed we’d all love to know. I’m having a hard time having trust with the new pump just installed. Unless I know the design was revised.

No oil change. Planned to change at 2500; almost made it. Dealer totally unconcerned with mileage w/o oil change. Everything covered by warranty including tow back to dealer.

IMHO, not changing oil had zero impact on oil pump failure.

collinms 06-28-2018 10:46 AM

So we have not seen a failure on a 2017 model car?

Boosted4life 06-28-2018 02:25 PM

I work for a GM dealer and there no confirmation from GM yet that there is any issues with a bad batch of oil pump so far.
