Early Stages - Road Trip Planning

I am looking at taking a week long trip through Arkansas and Missouri from 10/6-10/14.

The Basics:

I-49 north to Texarkana
US 71 north to Fort Smith (may want to spend a little time here - Judge Parker)
Stop 1 - Crystal Bridges Museum State Park (Frank Lloyd Wright home)

Pig's Tail over to Eureka Springs - Christ of the Ozarks and just a cool quirky town.

Route TBD - Elephant Rocks, Johnson's Shutins, Taum Sauk Mountain

White, Jack's Fork, Current and St. Francis rivers are all in play.

PM me if you may be interested. Details will be solidified by end of this week.

hi Lafourche! Have a great trip! Unfortunately I gotta tend to the office, so perhaps next year.

While CamaroFest was cool, I need a real vacation. Cool places with history and chances for photography.

I'll post some photos when I get back.

Hey Lafourche1 covered this area 2 years ago. Beautiful to drive through. Of course Hot Springs is a great little city with lots of history but my favorite spot was the Jasper area along the Buffalo River! Just west of Jasper 20min ride or so is Lost Valley State Park. Eden Falls is there. Awesome hike to a cave with the waterfall inside! rented a little cabin on a ridge just out of town that you could see 50 miles clear. also had deer and elk passing through. the river itself has lots of places to stop along all of which were amazing visually. you'll also want to check out Eureka Springs on the north end of Arkansas. really cool old little town with a haunted hotel at the very highest peek. its quite beautiful! we visited a large cat rescue facility there that was great! lions, tigers, panthers, puma, bears all up close too. if i can find some pics of these places i'll post em up. should be beautiful this time of year!

I am familiar with the area. I have kayaked the Buffalo from the Ponca "Low Water Bridge" to Kirby and on down to Pruitt. We stayed at the Arkansas Hotel in Jasper. Hot Springs will be another check on my national parks list. I am a fan of both Bucky Fuller and Frank Wright. Getting to see examples of both is a pretty big deal to me. Running the Pig's Trail should be pretty cool, too.

Being from Missouri, I always thought that I would retire in the Boston Mountains of NW Arkansas. I really like the area.
