What can be done about PDR buffeting at the track?
Is there anything that can be done about the load buffeting in the PDR recordings when we are at the track? It seems that anything approaching or exceeding 100 MPH buffets really bad. I love the videos, but it's unfortunate the sound gets really bad at speed. Any ideas?

If there's a microphone you can get to, you could move it inside the cabin...I really have no idea that is just my first guess and I have noticed that when watching videos.

This would be a good mod

I always turned the sound off. The mic is located inside the car and not outside. Wind noise from having windows down would cause issues which is why I just turned off sound.

Do we know if it uses the same bluetooth mic? That one is located in the drive-side A pillar. I wonder if sticking on a very small piece of foam would help.
A material something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Mudder-Large-.../dp/B01EMUQ08O |
I have to bump this thread just because I'm very curious as to what people find

There was someone that did in fact wire a new microphone in to the PDR and moved it to another location. I'll try to find it and link it here.

Really curious about this one. Do we know if GM will fix the PDR wind buffeting issue for these cars?
So annoying watching videos currently as is.. |
Putting some painter's tape over the mic built into the interior driver's side plastic trim helps to stop wind noise. You will see the small cutout to tape over about eye level on the left edge of the windshield when in the driver's seat.

Here is a picture of the area to tape over.
I used bright green automotive painters tape but blue painters tape works fine too. |
I thought the PDR Mic was a pinhole underneath the camera?
I'm going to Daytona Thursday and the wind noise was horrible in the PDR the last time. Ill try a pinhole mic windjammer but I doubt with the buffeting and wind at high speeds much will help. |
