Brake booster msd
1 Attachment(s)
I can't for the life of me get this brake booster line back into the MSD intake manifold. Any help
Greatly appreciated |
i did it with having the msd off so i can see what i'm doing, easier to maneuver that way but it also never put up a fight on me from what i can remember. looks like you broke something from the looks of that pic though, i could be wrong.

Looks like you actually pulled the fitting out of the manifold itself.

It’s salvageable. I did the same thing. First separate the fitting from the hose. Put a *VERY SMALL AMOUNT! of rtv of those teeth. Wood/rubber mallet and lightly tap it in. Give the rtv some time to dry then reinstall the hose BEFORE installing the manifold.

Update. I ordered these fittings and will attempt to retap the manifold. Any advice?

Update. Great success with the new fitting (pictured above). I used a 1/2" 14 NPT tap to make the brake booster hole in the back of the manifold bigger to accurately accept the new fitting. I was very nervous attempting this at first but it went in and did the job very nicely. I removed the old busted plastic fitting off of the hose and it slid in the new fitting and locked in place perfectly.

once the brake booster line goes in that fitting on the msd manifold, it becomes one with the manifold. i sold one of my msd manifolds with that line still attached bc i didn't want to destroy it attempting removal. good news is, it's just a vacuum line. most any idea will work.

I'm about to install an MSD for the first time. Is the MSD supposed to bring that fitting or is that something that came from the stock IM and transferred to the MSD.
|
if i recall, the msd has the fitting installed already, waiting to accept your factory brake booster line.
be warned: once you connect your stock line to the msd fitting, it isn't coming apart again. i simply bought another line from gm to keep around in the event i need to swap the msd. although the LT2 manifold i have sitting around also has a brake booster line stuck in it. |
