Good luck....The high bid at the Mecum Auction was $17.5K....It didn't sell...(I guess you already know that.)

Edit: I just realized you're referring to the same vehicle, not a similar one! https://www.mecum.com/lots/PJ0616-24...et-camaro-z28/ |

Fifth gens are still selling at auction just for trade-in prices....Fifth and Sixth gens will likely do better sooner, though, at auction than the 3,4 and some of the 2nd Gens... I thought you were the owner trying to sell it!....lol... |
No thanks, I wouldn't even give them $3,850.
|
Not sure how many miles you can put on a car before its no longer new ... but I think its less than 1800.
And nobody in their right mind would consider paying the same for a 'new' 1982 Z28 as an actually new SS. Which is probably why this guys sales pics are 2 years old. |
He means $3850 right?

I remember when the 82 Camaros came out; I had just graduated high school and since I was off to college, I could only dream about one of these. I stuck with my 78 Impala instead - my dad’s old company car that we were able to buy for $400 since no one else put in a bid for it.
Funny thing was, these Z/28s only made 145hp from the 5.0 V8. I had a 2018 Chevy Cruise as a loaner recently that made 153hp from a 1.4L turbo. Things sure have changed. Still, cool cars (way cooler than a Chevy Cruise). |

My name is Ken ("Hi, Ken!")… and I love 3rd gens.
There, I'm out of the closet. Full confession, right there. However... knowing that my six- shooter 5th gen makes more than twice the ponies, well, not so sure I'd be willing to plunk down a lot of money for that 3rd gen. It's got a little cool "nostalgia" factor to it, but I could buy a pretty decent one, in a better color, that's well used, for 1/20 of the price. I could drive that around without feeling guilt about the miles, I could roast the tires off (well, if the car even has enough oomph to do it) and not feel like I was deflowering a precious virgin, and IF I had too many PBRs and me my mullet wrapped the car around a telephone pole, it would NOT make the news, and I'd be out less that $2000. |

The 3rd generation is my third favorite generation (no pun intended): 1. 1970-73/1978-81 2. 2014-15 3. 1985-89 I'd sell my 1996 Lincoln to make room for one, but the Town Car is a helluva commuter car. |
The other downside to go along with the insane $38,500 is that it isn`t even the Crossfire injection,305,165HP Z28. Just the 145HP carburetor version.
|
I have no shame in admitting it, the 3rd gen is the worst Camaro to date. Including the butt ass ugly refresh of the 6th gen. The only reason anyone had to liking one is simply nostalgia.
