Before and after dyno numbers from simple mods!

Baseline was the car dead bone stock. Second dyno is with the following mods:

- Roto-Fab Dry
- Katech 87mm TB
- Borla 60606
- Borla 60608
- Kooks Axle-Back

Baselined at about 1250 miles and made 574 HP, weather that day was in the mid 30’s. Today she made 627 HP at 2500 miles with temps at the time of the runs in the high 40’s, low 50’s. Overall, I am SUPER happy with my results...especially after you see so many posts that basically say any mod on a stock car with a stock tune doesn’t do shit. Well folks, apparently a decent intake setup is worth something, as is an exhaust system after the OE headers and primary cats. I bought and installed all of my own mods minus fitting the catback, so this shop was under ZERO obligation to show me any big gains. I plan on rolling at this power level for a while until I feel good about the oil pump not crapping the bed. After that, I’d be up for a ported blower, pulley, tune, etc.

Great results, especially given no tune.

Nice. Moved the HP curve up about 400 rpms and especially impressed with the increase in torque from such basic mods. Congrats!

That’s very impressive . I like that combo. It’s simple.
Off topic but are those Z28 wheels on your car?

kropscamaro16 03-22-2019 06:45 PM

They are, wanted something for my winter/all-season tire setup and always loved how those looked.

Are they the MMR or actual Factory Z28 rims

MMR since it’s my winter set. My OE wheels and tires are reserved for track shenanigans.

now all of the "ECM won't allow over 650ft/lb" people can stop spewing BS. It is obvious a tune is more ideal, but a "no tune" mod(s) has merit and worth a lot in this case!

While I partially agree, there is no doubt that it will still tighten the throttle down when it sees fit especially in the first gear or two - I'm certain this car will run no faster than the average 1.69-1.74 60' for example. There's also a learn that the car will go through. The mods work best when first installed but I've seen tuners like Ben @ Weapon X show that after the ECU learns, it will adjust back down where you'll show little benefit, and perhaps negative side effects like in Todd's case where with a TB/Intake it was losing power up top. No guarantee that it was BECAUSE of the TB/Intake but it's highly likely...JMO. Now that said, I personally run an intake and X pipe on both my otherwise stock LT4s. Just makes me feel good. But no idea if it's actually beneficial or in fact negatively impacting the car.

Well for what it’s worth my mods have been installed for 3+ months now, so I’d think the learning curve would be complete by now. In regards to the computer limiting power, it cuts TQ by as much as 50 ft-lbs starting around 3,500 RPM, so the the TQ management is very real. A tune would pick up massive mid range torque, I know that for sure.
