Magnuson 3100

I think we've talked about this but couldn't find it in the search. It was probably brought up in another post. I believe they will be using the 2650 intercoolers and a redesign of the Rotor Case. So if someone goes from a 2650 it should be a very simple swap. Its going to fit under the Corvette and Camaro hoods pretty easily. I'm guessing there will be a lot of Lt4, 2300 and 2650s forsale once it hits the market next year. It is going to be a very wicked blower. I think its coming out earlier the Mustangs and Ls motors, then the Lt/Lt4s. Here is some info on it.

I would think that anyone wanting a 1000 rwhp this will make it much easier to achieve. Plus when Mike is finished with his system it will be a really wicked package if you want to go there. This popped up on my Facebook, killer 2650 LS running 8.02@169

Well, my 2650 piggy bank just got rearranged for a 3100, haha! Never been so excited for a new car warrantee to expire.

LiqTenExp 11-13-2020 08:23 AM

Oooo, that might be worth the swap from my 2300 :)

Ten the 2650 is worth the swap from the 2300 so you can imagine how much more easy power you can make with the 3100 on much less boost. As I find out more I'll pass it on. My Camaro made about 85 more rwhp from the 2300 to 2650 so I would expect about the same from a 2650 to a 3100 Maggie. I believe this is just what the doctor ordered for the stroker guys also. This is a perfect fit for Mike Swanson's 2650 Camaro that currently holds the Gen6 1/4 mile record at 8.40@163. I know he wants to be the 1st Gen6 in the 7s so this blower might make it a little easier, I know he's going to get one at some point. Should be lots of 2650s for sale once the 3100 arrives. Might even be some Pro Charger and Whipple's for sale also.

It depends on the power goals...There is a point when larger isn't better for the intended application and I don't really see the 3100 being much of an advantage under 1000whp compared to a 2650. The 2650 was a significant difference over the 2300 once above 750whp because the 2300 starts to create more heat and lose efficiency. If you had both the 2300 and 2650 pullied for 7psi, the 2300 would likely be better. The 3100 would be even worse because it would be spinning so slow it wouldn't make any power under the curve. For somebody like Mike Swanson, yes the 3100 is likely going to be an improvement.

Its going to be better on higher HP cars as a benefit. I wouldn't put one on a stock Lt1 or even an Lt4, either would have to be modded to really see a big benefit. The 2650 or the 2300 would be better for stock application.

Damn, I want to see Maggie 3100 vs Whipple 3.8 right now! Lol! More money going down the drain in our future... :happy0180:

I think the 3.8 will be heavier then the 3100 just because of the mass. They will both be pretty cool to see the power they can make.

Isn't there an advantage in efficiency with larger ?

And efficiency = less heat soak = more consistency when you need it

laynlo15 11-13-2020 09:52 PM

Sometimes there is.

I already emailed Magnuson. Water outlets, case, lid, and gaskets :)

Those larger rotors and gears will take more power to turn, so while there's an efficiency to be gained, it seems, to me, that you have to overcome the power-losses with turning it. There might be nothing gained, power-wise, for someone like me. I'm still eager to see more information though! HAHAHA

ramairroughneck 11-14-2020 07:33 PM

I think the 2650 is the sweet spot for torque and efficiency. No doubt the 3100 will make some crazy power. I would guess it would have to be a little lazier to take off
