Just ordered pray tune! Few questions

So I currently just ordered a pray tune and got my base tune back. Told him I have rotofab dry, and flex fuel sensor in. I’m going to be installing my 1 7/8 catless headers next weekend and gauges. So I got my base tune to put right in then when all done. His instructions were track mode, TC nannies off, normal drive log and 3rd gear manual pulls 2500-6800 rpm and few digs.

1. Someone explain to me the steps of a 3rd gear manual pull in the rpm range? Does this mean don’t shift up once you get to that ending rpm? And then just brake or coast or slap it back to auto mode after a quick pull?

2. I will have the AEM gauge installed for afr but someone warned me about being cautious of running lean at WOT on a base tune and after headers and can be sketchy? Do I monitor my AFR on pulls and if it starts running lean do I just slow down?

3. I snooped around in the base tune on HPT and saw flex fuel tab is disabled still, after a few revisions on pump gas will he then tell me to run E?

Intrested because I might do the same.

He'll get you a base tune and tweak it on regular gas first. My third revision (second or third can't remember for sure) he enabled E85.

You only have a couple bolt-ons. Prays base tune will likely be 95% spot on so I wouldn't be concerned about AFR. 3rd gear manual pull just means start in 3rd gear using manual mode, run it out to 6800 and let off.

Pump gas tune ideally should be dialed in first before turning on the Flex sensor...Brett knows what he is doing.

What would be the realistic gains on Pray's tune if there are no bolt-ons on the car (completrly stock)? Is it worth it to have it tuned?

Haha for sure I believe in him 100% so many amazing reviews on him and excellent customer service. I am just a paranoid overly cautious one and wanna know everything to do and procedures. I got my base tune today and only going with flex fuel kit, rotofab dry, and TSP 1 7/8 catless headers. I bought the tune early and then putting it in next Saturday when get my gauges and headers installed, then put tune right in. So you’re saying it won’t be a huge AFR issue of running lean when doing WOT pulls on the base tune for my little few mods?

fwiw i logged my car on the stock tune after doing 2” long tubes, no cats, 3” x & mid to magnaflow mufflers. it was a bit lean up top but didn’t knock.

For that kind of wot tuning I like to hit it low in 3rd like 2250 - 2500 so for sure tip in and everything levels out and you dial the full band in. carry all the way to cutoff. It sounds like a dyno run. I do this at a drag strip - test and tune for a safe legal environment. Lots of ppl looking at u with wtf faces but me and car are better for it

In my tune instructions from pray he says 3rd gear manual mode I am A8 btw, and then 2500 rpm to 6800. So he doesn’t mean stomp the gas pedal but ease into it until max rpm and then just go back to auto mode and reset for another 3rd gear pull?

I am sure some will disagree with me, but why have it tuned with no mods. That's about an $800 and a waste unless you are never going to mod the car.

Not worth it unless you are tuning the trans...that is where most of the gains are. GM left a lot to be desired on the A8 calibration.

Yes you have to go WOT.
