gearing questions

is it possible to just buy a 3.27 ring and pinion kit to replace the oem 2.77 ring and pinion rather then buying the entire actual differential? i know i wont get the limited slip feature but i will atleast have the gearing which is what i want. is it possible to remove my ring and pinion and replace with the 3.27 or will it be cheaper to just buy the actual diff?

whatever you end up doing, the car's trans tuning is based on commanded torque I believe. Changing gear ratios is going to potentially throw how it shifts out of wack, on top of the speedo updates needed.

Doesn't sound like a fun diy job unless you do tuning as well.

How much is a used T4 Camaro rear going for?

i have trifecta tuning, ive seen that they have applied these tunes for previous customers who went the diff swap route. now my question truly was if me just changing the ring and pinion is the same outcome as buying the actual diff?

brand new from gm roughly $1500, used could vary from many prices hard to find though.
