I want a used Z/28, but no luck

Prices were under $40k before the stupid pandemic, but now all the ones I find are $65k+.

I was holding out for $32k-$35k and I held out too long...

I would LOVE a Z/28. 2015 would be fine. But I give up when they are almost back to MSRP.

Doesn't anybody remember the $25k rebates? Lucky owners only paid ~$50k!

This one, https://www.warrentonchevrolet.com/V...-VA/4782975303, looks clean but way over $50k. You'll probably have to wait a year for prices on used cars to come down, or until the free money quits flowing. Free money could keep going until the 2022 elections though, buy votes, or even 2024. Right now, new is the best way to go. A ZL1 1LE is not far from a used Z28 price. I do remember the 25% off when they were new, saw someone get a new red one in the $40k's.

I honestly doubt they will ever go down again, especially the low mileage ones.

$6,000 for rotors and pads ended my desire years ago.

Believe you can just switch out for iron rotors

The higher prices on the Z/28 started after Hagerty’s article. That was before the pandemic. I know several people that were looking for one but only one person found one before the prices jumped.

Maybe more now...but really only an issue if you are tracking this car. On the street the rotors are good for probably 100k miles...

We have a customer that has a C6 ZR1 and tracks the car very hard. The OEM rotors lasted for 7 years and a few sets of pads. The brake system itself is very costly, but it lasts a lot longer. If you are that worried, you can take the brakes off to switch to iron, and then sell the OEM stuff for a nice chunk of change

Very impressed to hear they would last that long on the ZR1. How much do you feel the weight difference of the two cars would play into that? They are about 500 lbs in weight difference...

Wai til boomers die. It’ll drop. I don’t think the z/28 is in that much demand. Of course I could be wrong?

First your assumption counts on all the Z/28s were bough by 50 year olds and older which is doubtful and also us boomers will be here for a long time to come.

Now a more sensitive comment might have been as boomers get older and find track days less important then more cars will come on the market perhaps reducing prices.

There are 2 of them being sold locally at a place in Dublin, OH called Toy Barn. Both have been up for sale all summer. Both are $60k+ and nobody seems to want them here in central Ohio. Go figure...I think the real value price of a used '15 Z with 5k miles on it is probably closer to $45k if you ask me. I'd be interested in one for between $40-45k but no more than that because I like the car itself but I hate taking care of black cars.
