Winter Wheels
Hey Guys,
Just bought a 2015 1LS. Going to be a year-round car up here just north of Detroit, MI. So I'm going to need a winter wheel+tire set-up. Right now the car has 245/55r18's on it. I want to have a set of wheels+tires for winter so I don't have to swap tires on the wheels. I found a good set of wheels/tires off a 2010 equinox with Michelin winter tires on CL 225/65r17 (same bolt pattern). These are on a 17" wheel, does anyone know if a 17" has enough clearance on the front and rear brakes? Thanks! -Jarred |

I went with the 18s for my car for winter. Also man 2015 still pretty much brand new make sure you get it krown rust proofing. Or Rust Check or whatever you guys have there. Or just jump the border and get it done here in Canada bro bottom line get her done

I went out and measured the inside diameter of the wheels on the car. For future reference, the ID at the bottom is 16.25" and the entrance is 17.75". Looks like the distance from the center to the farthest out point of the brake caliper is ~7.25" but that is more to the outer, larger diameter. This means a wheel with at a minimum 15" opening at the bottom should work ok.
I thought of doing that since my previous car (jeep wrangler) literally rusted/rotted out. This camaro is pretty clean underneath now so I might look into Krown although I don't plan on keeping it forever. Does it really work? |
