DIY HomeLink Kit for 2019-2024

4 Attachment(s)
For those interested in adding HomeLink to your 2019-2024 Camaro, I am currently working on a how-to video. Here are some in-progress photos. I am also working with Gen5DIY to have a custom harness made for this to prevent having to cut/tap into your factory wiring:

Here are the links for the HomeLink Kit:

This of course is impossible if you have a moonroof. That's where the moonroof switch is.

It’s not impossible, just not possible in that location. The kit can also be installed in the headliner. That is actually what it’s designed for and I cover that in the video that I promise will come out soon.

Excellent work  Something like this is what GM should've offered at least as an option on the coupes instead of being lazy bums and dropping the feature altogether.

Very much interested! And I don’t have a sunroof so even better for me!

I was a bit disappointed at first when my 2024 didn’t have it, but I just got a sun visor clip remote. Works better than Homelink ever did.

Me too, I was disappointed that my 2020 didn't have it. After having the visor clip remote, it's no big deal and I'm used to it now.

Interesting you say that. I tested this out yesterday and the HomeLink in the car was able to open the garage door 3 houses earlier down my street than the handheld visor clip opener from Chamberlin. I wonder if the car acts as an antenna enhancer. Side note, my neighbors were looking at me very strangely as I was slowly reversing down the street seeing how far it would work from.

:smiling1:

Video will be out tonight, at 8e/7c!

That’s a nice clean solution to an annoying problem.

I ended up removing the clip, wrapping the buttons black and attached with double sided tape. Not the best, but it works and looks “ good enough” for my needs. Of course, I like your install better…

My garage is behind my house so nothing I’ve found works until I’m halfway down my driveway and the house is no longer blocking the signal. I’ve had Homelink on about half a dozen different vehicles and some worked better than others, but with most I had to hold the button in and get pretty close. Even the best of them were intermittent and sometimes you had to be very close and hold the button or repress. The aftermarket visor clip I have works like a champ every time with just a momentary button press. My Chamberlain is an older model purchased in 2000, so that may have something to do with it.

Any updates on when your harness will be available? I bought a homelink kit myself but I'm holding off installing if you're going to have an easy plug-and-play harness available soon so I don't have to tap.

Let me know whatever the situation is. If you're still a ways off from having the harness available I'll just go ahead and install it.

The harness is available through Gen5DIY. The description in the video gives instructions on how to order. Either email or call Gen5DIY and let them know you want the HomeLink Harness features in my video. It isn’t on their site yet. I’m not sure when or if they plan on adding it as an option.
