No longer at Magnuson Superchargers

Well it was a sad day Friday as I lost my job with Magnuson because of the Corona Virus. I worked remotely and have drag raced for them for almost 4 years was an employee for the last 19 months. I had a feeling this might happen but thought I might be able to work a while longer but when they locked California down last Thursday Magnuson just had to make some decisions on going forward and they decided to bring my job back in house and divide it between several employee's. I enjoyed my job and will miss it for sure but I'm still here and will help anyone who needs it. I guess at 68 years old I'm finally retired. I may end up having to sell my car and trailer but don't know if anyone will have any money to buy it as we are all hunkered down for a while.

Hate to hear the bad news. Fingers crossed that things improve...and soon!

For sure, to my knowledge they are still operating since they are an automotive parts manufacturer. They took real good care of me over the last 4 years and was proud to work for them. They just have no control over the current situation. Now I can work on my golf game again and work in my shop.

Sorry to hear...I am in the same boat. All of the Bar and Restaurant closures shut down my business as well being I am in the Coin Op business. I install Touch Tune jukeboxes, pool tables, video games, and sell Pull Tabs to these establishments. Luckily my Wife is still employed. I really do not want to accept a stimulus check so hopefully this doesn't last too long.

I say keep the car if you can...you have put a lot of effort into making it what it is and it sounds like you have some unfinished business with it. If I recall you haven't been able to get clean run yet on the new setup. So you got to at least get that PB with the new setup before moving on!!

Good luck and be safe! :)

Laynlo, so sorry for you and all others who are struggling through this time. Hopefully things will improve for all of us!!!! Hopefully I can still ask you questions about the Maggies!!!!

Sorry to hear this Laynlo. Unfortunately we are watching history unfold. Unfortunately it’s ugly and only gonna get uglier it looks like. Thank you for your contributions to this board. You never know, if this gets better quickly maybe they’ll approach you for help again. If not, golf and garage playtime. Stay safe brother.

Greg that is extremely unfortunate, and I feel for you and so many others in this boat. I just recently heard the very same news of a friend who had 20 yrs at a company that was let go. Heartbreaking news. I agree you need to try and hang on to that pride and joy to give yourself something to look forward to, and to tinker with. Stay healthy Sir!

Driski 03-22-2020 11:46 AM

I have, and will always enjoy reading your posts. Stay healthy. Stay in touch. Love!

Yes I will be glad to answer anything I can about Magnuson products. I may not be able to sell my car anyway. I think I owe about 3500 buck on it so I'm not worried at this point. I've never drawn unemployment before so I will see how that goes here in Missouri. Its detuned right now for 93 octane and I plane on driving it some since I've put less then 150 miles on it in the last 3 years. I don't event plan on drag racing it this year, not spending anymore money on it. I just drove it yesterday for the first time with a 90mm pulley and 93 octane, its still so freaking fast it crazy. Should have some fun.
Thanks and hopefully everyone on the forum and their families make it thru this and come out healthy. Lets all keep up with each other, that's important. Best wishes.

68 going on 18 with a 3500 dollar Camaro, sounds awesome, good luck and have some fun you deserve it.

laynlo15 03-22-2020 02:20 PM

Thanks paintslinger, it will all work out. I don't feel like 18 but maybe 38, yep paid off in about 5 months. Good thing about almost being there is not much interest in those last months as it all goes to principle.

We are all feeling the pain bro, hope we can turn this corner quickly. I'm retired now but I do teach at night, the local university has canceled all part-time professors at the end of the April so I also won't have my part-time job. I think we will bounce back quickly and there will be even more demand for everything by the end of summer. So hang-in.
Texas Unemployment maxes out at 1800 / month, I bet this gets increased and extended past 6 months. I also think that there will be a lot of pent up demand that will explode when this ends.

Sorry to hear about the lay-off Greg. Thanks for all you’ve done for me and the ZLE.
