#1 Complaint about the ZL1

So, after almost 1 year with the ZL1 I love essentially everything about it...EXCEPT 1 damn thing. The freakin' capless fuel tank. OMG.

Half the gas stations I stop at the nozzle gets stuck in the tube and it takes me 5-10 mins of looking like a complete idiot trying to get the damn thing out. My wife took the car once and had to get gas and it got stuck...and she couldn't get it out! She had to call for help from the gas station attendant and felt so embarrassed. Even he spent almost 5 mins trying and was concerned he would damage the car.

Seriously, this capless "feature" is complete and utter crap. :frusty: Does anyone have any foolproof trick to getting the nozzle out? I push it back in further, I pull it, I twist it 90 degrees/180 degrees, change the angle slightly, repeat, over and over again until finally it comes free.

Luckily after being thoroughly frustrated I can just look at the car for a brief second and I'm back to being happy and can't wait to get back in it and drive it! :thumb:

I never have a problem pulling out (hehe).....but my issue is that the shitty CA pumps always want to click off , so now I just stand there and hold the trigger down manually. PITA

I've literally never had a single problem. Weird.

Have a 2016 Camaro and a 2015 stingray, both capless, never ever a single issue at all. Something weird with your car.

Maybe it’s something with the California pumps? I’ve definitely read of other complaints with capless cars. I think even McLaren owners have the issue!

collinms 08-07-2018 07:45 PM

Never had that problem with mine.

nighttowl 08-07-2018 07:51 PM

no problems here. take it to the dealer.

thescreensavers 08-07-2018 07:52 PM

Sounds like you need to take your car to the dealer, literally never had an issue with it.

ScottMZ3 08-07-2018 07:54 PM

I’ll mention it to the dealer next oil change. There a TON of posts out there from people with different brand cars that report issues with their capless cars. So I know I’m not alone!

Mine is the same way, so was my SS. Three problems, all CA cars... Perhaps it is the pumps.

Stealth7 08-07-2018 08:05 PM

Never had this issue on any car in SoCal.

Sometimes the pump shuts off, but that is it. Hmmm...

ninetres 08-07-2018 08:06 PM

I think CA does have some bullshit hippy regulated pumps. That’s probably the culprit.

rmh3 08-07-2018 08:06 PM

Huh...never had a problem with mine

Maybe Spit on it first??
