Shift Sector Coalinga

I signed up for shift sector at the end of April - Anyone ever take a stock auto 2ss on one of these 1/2 mile events? Any tips? What should I expect for trap speed?

Never been to one but was thinking of going down to watch, maybe I should sign up as well. 16 2SS here. How much was it?

It's 250 for Saturday and 450 for the whole weekend, but it looks like Saturday is all booked up already. I imagine just Sunday is 250 as well. They also have spectator tickets. Looks like fun - I've taken mine down the quarter at Fallon, but that's at altitude.

Wow, 450 for 2 days of 1/2 mile seems like a lot to me.

As far as speed possibility for your stock SS, think that somebody on here has reported 138mph in the 1/2 mile for a stick shift SS/1LE. Don't know if their event had a standing start, or a 'roll on' at 50mph like some orgs apparently use for these things.

Well, if you want to play (legally), sometimes you gotta pay, lol. I'm just doing the one day, but it's my understanding that I'll have the opportunity to do enough runs that I'll be tired of doing it. I guess we'll see what it does - I was thinking somewhere in the high 130's to 140 ish

I agree that going to a legal venue beats the crap out of driving like an ass on public roads and risking trouble with cops/oblivious people texting/etc. Just think their prices are high compared to some other orgs that I know of with longer distance and more days available. I know that you guys out there in Cali lost the Mojave airport event, so not a whole lot of choices near you for a street car.

Seems like a lot of money for track time. I know test and tune at Gingerman (road course, South Haven MI) is $105 and road course would allow you to open her up. I image the major cost of a shift sector event beside the prize pool is airport rental. Have fun.

I have even fewer choices as I'm in Northern Nevada - Coalinga is about a 5 hour drive. LSFest in Vegas is 8 hours. I guess there is Sac, but even at 2-3 hours, I'd have to do some planning.

Tip make sure you take out 1 day track ins, if you wreck or hit something your street insurance will not cover it...

I took my 17 SS a8 end of 2017 and i trapped 132mph. Pretty good for a stock car

It's a blast! I went last year, get there early so you don't have to wait in line for ever. Take a pop up for shade. After drivers meeting get your car staged. I did 141 bone stock M6
spinning like crazy out of the hole due to the paint on the start. To me it's worth the $250
I'll be there with several buddies but not running my car this time.
