I’m looking for feedback. I’m trying to decide between the two sets of tires below. The car is a daily driven 2017 2SS in Texas. My hope is to get 15,000 miles out of the tires. Cost is a factor. Probably four track weekends per year. Ten inch rims in front and eleven inch rims in back.

I'll toss in Michelin PS4 as the best choice

You want 15k miles and 4 track events a yr? You wont get wither from these tires. My factort supercar 3s never did a burnout or seen a track and daily driver and they are nearly bald at only 7500 miles. The pilot sports have an even worse tread life. Try the continental extreme contact sports. DOUBLE the tread life but you will saceifice some grip over the other 2 but cost wise its dead center between those two choices.

Half way through set of PS4S - i'll buy another set when these are done. They do a lot of things right.

I would also agree with another members recommendation above for MPS4S. I purchased Cup 2's for my previous 718 Cayman, and the grip is phenomenal, but the are essentially a track tire for the street. They spit up pebbles and rocks even worse than the Goodyear Supercar 3 tires. The tread wear is pretty bad, and like any good track tire, they have very little grip (especially on cold mornings) when there's no heat in the tires. Once they heat up, or if you're on a track, they are as good as it gets for a legal track tire.
I purchased an additional set of the Supercar 3 tires in my garage right now. I have yet to wear out the current ones, but I got a deal from Tire Rack that I simply couldn't pass up. If it wasn't for the deal I received, I was 100% set on buying Michellin PS4S tires for my next set, after the Supercar 3 tires wore out.
I would heavily consider the MPS4S's for your next set, especially if you're looking to get get anything North of 10k miles out of them. I purchased MPS4S's for my wife's modded 335i M-sport, and they simply do everything well!
If you're looking for additional grip, and are willing to sacrifice the additional wear, I'd also consider the Goodyear Supercar 3R tires. They come stock for the ZL1 1LE, and they might be a more cost efficient alternative to the Cup 2's if money is a factor. Either way, you're looking at all the right tires in my opinion...

I have to agree on the Continentals, for a daily driver.

4 track days and 15K is a real stretch. With cost being a factor I think the cheapest of SC2 or the PS4S is going to be the SC3.

why arent michelin ps4s on your list instead of cup2?

I don't want to offend anyone, but from everything I've read the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires are not for track days. They are great four-season tires with better than expected handling.

My perspective comes from Toyo R888's on my GTO. The R888's are a terrific track tire.

In Texas it's generally warm and dry; however, when it rains it can be a soaking rain leaving deep accumulations quickly. In the right vehicle with a good tire it's not an issue. I come from the North where you scrape the ice and drive through the snow. So, driving in less than ideal conditions is not unusual. If the weather is real bad or near freezing I’ll drive the truck.

The thought about the Continental Extreme Contact Sport is on target as I’ve been strongly considering these tires as well.

I’m leaning toward the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 tires as they are a GM selected tire, and there is currently a $60.00 rebate. I’d like to think GM requested specific parameters to complement their suspension.

My desire for a 15k mile tire is intentionally pushing mileage limits. But if I expect 12k I shouldn’t be too disappointed.

maybe with the ps4s you can get 4 track days and 15k but no way with the cup2s ive had them on for about 2 years and 2 full track days and a few auto x days and still pretty good

I think you would be fine with the SC3. My experience with them has been good. I had 8000 miles on my SC3s when they were pulled off. The front were corded on the outside edge. But in those miles I had 2 track days at Willow Springs Big Track (averaging 250 miles on track each day), 5 autocrosses with 2 drivers (and two practice days with 1 driver- 20ish runs each practice day), and one weekend at Lone Pine Time Trials with 2 drivers(surface is 1940s airstrip asphalt and very aggressive). The tires corded on my last run at Lone Pine. Tread depth on the inside of the front tires was at 3/32". Rear tires are still usable with about 3/32" thread left. My alignment is -2.3*f camber, 0* front toe, -1.7* rear camber, 0.05*rear toe in. I also very seldom drive aggressively on the public road.

So, depending on how aggressive you drive on the street and track, you might get 12k miles on a set of SC3 with 4 track days. But your alignment specs will be one of the factors.

The Cups are better in the wet than Supercar 3. The Supercar 3 is a longer lasting, more durable track tire than the Cup 2. The Cup 2 is a bit faster than the Supercar 3.

You'll get more use out of the Supercar 3 than the Cup 2, from what you are stating. The Pilot 4S is a 3-season/summer tire and a better track choice than the Conti ECS. The ECS is track capable, but more of a 3-season/summer street tire than the 4S.

My hope and concern is that the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 are nothing like the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 RunOnFlat tires currently on the car. That's the core of this posting. I don't want to drive fifty miles on the Supercar 3 tires only to find they are just like the Asymmetric 3 RunOnFlat tires. $1,179.96 is a chunk of money I don't want to spend unwisely.

So, if the Supercar 3 tires are similar to the Asymmetric 3, somebody please shout out!

I also considered the new Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires, but with a UTQG of 100 A A I'd be purchasing new tires every four-six months. Those babies are just a bit less than the Michelins at $1,665.96 for four.

If you get 15k miles out of G3s I think you'd be the first person ever, even with no track miles.

They are a way better tire than the stock SS Asymmetric 3 ROF that's not even a question.
