What moron wrote this? Or did they cancel the ZL1? I thought the ZL1 was coming back with the Caddy upgraded engine.

They aren't referring to performance, the can't hold a candle part was referring to the sales If I read that correctly while multitasking a work meeting. :)

Not by my reading comprehension...

Here is the paragraph before...

"Turning our attention back to the suck-squeeze-bang-blow department, the next level up from the LTG is the LGX 3.6-liter aspirated V6 with 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet (385 Nm) at the crankshaft. The LT1 small-block V8 ticks all the right boxes with 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet (617 Nm), and at the very top of the lineup, a blower unlocks 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet (881 Nm) from 6.2 liters of displacement.

Wish they put that in the beginning so I could’ve just stopped reading. Isn’t the ZL1 faster to 60 and only like 0.1 behind in the quarter? With 100+ less hp I’d say that’s pretty damn good.

That article should tell you why the sales of the Camaro are what they are. It’s called perception. They may be doofus and don’t know anything but they have a voice. Perception is reality. Camaro is like the orange man all things bad.

As we all know how fast a car is only depends on the pure horsepower number. A Hellcat on its 25 year old mercedes platform wont even beat a SS 1LE on a track...

And sales only depend on how much horsepower the highest model has...

Fraxum 02-24-2021 12:26 PM

Well it turns out on a race track the GT500 is the real deal. I'd rather buy a used ZL1 for $45-50K and add a some boltons and tuning to make it just as fast for a little more than 1/2 the GT 500 price. The ZL1 still has a better chassis and is lighter.

I'm sick of internet news articles written by 5 yr olds. My 10 and 8 yr old have better english skills.

That aside, the Chargers might be an old platform, but it is a solid one and offers usable back seat space along with trunk space. This is something GM left by the wayside on the 5th gen and even moreso on the 6th gen. We V8 owners don't keep the line alive sadly, but the pedestrian 4 and 6 cylinders do. To ignore that fact is to put your sales in peril.

Remember though... the Camaro and Mustang are also generating sales from Convertibles - thus the smaller interior.

Could you imagine a Challenger COnvertible LOL! Fleetwood anyone LMFAO!

RealG 02-24-2021 03:20 PM

A convertible Mopar is on the way. Name ? Who knows. Cuda or new challenger convertible but it’s coming.
