Front bushing leaking ?

Both my lower front bushings look like they're leaking. Can they even leak? This is the only 2 areas that show a sign of a leak. Its all dry so has not happened recently. mileage is 18K and only 50 track days with the last year on g3R tires

Possibly? There are hydraulic bushings in existence but I didn't think the 1LE used them. Could be wrong there though. Also curious how it got on parts above the bushing if that's where it came from.

Front FE4 link bushings are hydraulic - that's what is leaking. Just replace the links with the FEA (ZL1 1LE) ones that are not hydraulic and were meant for the G3R's you are using. PN's 84051643 (L), '44 (R).

Interesting...

Don't forget to get new bolts which the service manual says are TTY. Interesting that the FEA arms are $30 less than the FE4

I've been wondering why the FE3 bushing was so different (and more expensive) than the FE2/FE3/FEA bushing... The only reason I can think of why GM would do this would be related to NVH, but why and why on the ZL1 and SS 1LE? My thinking is that it must be related to something with the MRC struts: Maybe them being structurally stiffer, accompanied by the spherical-jointed lateral link, required something a bit softer to go on somewhere... Anyway, thanks for posting up!:w00t: |

The other choice was the SPL arms for only $700 lol

My guess is the 20inch wheels from the SS 1Le and ZL1 are heavier than other variants and generate shake / vibrations when they are exited at their modal frequencies (12 to 20Hz), hence the hydros to damp it. Wheels and tires are the heaviest mass components of our suspension.

Finally got the new FEA links. $30 each cheaper than the FE4

Wonder if it would be worth it to have a place like kingpin machine put a spherical bearing in our stock control arms... It's gotta be cheaper than what SPL is charging for their LCA.
