Good that you have a cage already. Never ever run a harness unless you have a cage.

I have used the Sparco 6 point and currently using the Schroth Profi II 6 point hans. My experience is the the Schroth is better in terms of feel and quality, latch feel. Sparco is good but the Schroth IMO is better.

May I ask why a harness without a roll cage is a no no? Thanks in advance.

Works well if you don’t want to run 6 points.

In case of a roll-over, the harness will keep you upright in the seat while the roof structure is deforming "downward" toward the car floor. It's trying to make your spine sub for the missing roll structure.

Norm,

Thanks for the good information

I drive a 2SS and find it difficult to stay firmly in the seat at the track. Is there a safe and inexpensive way to reduce "driver body slide" (for want of a better term) when cornering?

This looks like a good set up. Is it safe without a roll cage if the car winds up on it's roof? To provide more info i am 6'3" and ride with the seat as low as possible and sloped back to allow my helmet to fit under the corner of the sunroof by less than 1 inch.

The CG-lock (sp?) is one solution.

I've been running a secondary non-slacking belt that loops around the seat and over the OE 3-point after fastening that. It also seems to keep the OE belt from doing any of its own slacking. Actually, I made up two of these, so that an instructor or any passenger would have the same level of restraint. One instructor who I'd invited to ride along for a session (I think his car was broken) actually passed this idea along as a suggestion to his assigned student.

Re-purposed from the 1979 Chevy Malibu I used to own, and my crude stitching need not be able to withstand crash forces, only belt-tightening force.

Thanks Norm,

As I understand it CG=center of gravity. Correct? Any chance you could send me a picture of your set up in use? Thanks in advance.

My current thinking: Need a way to lock the occupants waist (center of gravity) to the seat but allow torso to move away from seat in event of rollover. Correct? If so I am begining to formulate a solution. I work next 6 days so will give it some thought then share when able.

Jeff
