I HATE the recaro 1LE seats.

But I dont want to just trade my driver's seat for a standard SS seat. Whats the price look like to just buy either a new or possibly used 1SS or 2SS front driver's seat.

I would keep the passenger seat and put the drivers seat in a giant bag and put it in the basement for when I might resell the car. But has anyone done the same? Bigger guys im talking to you.

The consensus among 1LE owners seems to be that these Recaros break in over time, you might want to give your driver seat a bit more.

Maybe thats the answer. But the side bolsters are just too narrow for my legs. Especially when I have to pull the clutch leg back to let off the clutch. There is no wiggle room from side to side for my man legs. I'm 6' 280lbs.

Have you sat in the regular SS seats and found them to make a considerable difference?

Absolutely. Its like sitting on a comfy couch on the normal seats.

I feel your pain, I'm 6'1 and 290 lbs. I don't mind it as much as I don't dd my 1le. They work great for track days. if they were a tad wider it would be perfect. But I think I can live with them.

Yes. Just a tad wider. Thats it. Thats all I need as well. I wonder if you can just shave down the foam on the recaro side bolsters?

If you have any interest in AutoX or Track, you will find the standard SS seat severely lacking. Even the 1LE needs more support (IMHO) when you really start to push.

BTW - I'm 6'4" and 240...so not an insubstantial dude.

keto diet ftw

Up to coat size 46 should fit without too much discomfort. Above that you may want to remove some ribs or shop for a different racing seat.

Could you buy just the SS foam and swap it out. $75.00

6'4 280 and this matches my experience. Take time to really get your driving position dialed in. Try different setups, give it a few days then try something else. This is the first car/truck I've ever driven (50+) where I DON'T put the seat all the way back. All the way down, yes.

I've driven SF > Chicago and back, did one side of that in 2 days. Plenty of long haul trips, and I haven't had issues dialing it in. But like Matt said, even just pushing it hard in the canyons I often wish it were more bolstered - if I go drive hard for 3+ hours I find my legs feel a little like jelly from how much I'm using them to brace myself in place. I can't imagine going to the stock seats in this grippy of a car if you like putting that lateral grip to use.

I just look at it as a constant reminder to lose weight. On track they are great, especially if you move the seat back 2-3 inches, lock the belt reel, pull it as tight as you can, then move the seat back forward until it's as tight as you can stand. But on long drives, like I said, the discomfort is a reminder to keep losing weight.

The only seat issue I had was initially the side bolster nipped me on exit. My Mustang I don't think it had Recaro's but they were close to it in the support and shaping. The thing I don't do in the Camaro is put the seat down in elevation, I've got it way up to help with some visibility issues, and reclined to the backstop (unmodified). I'm 5'9 and 220#.
