SS 1LE Rotors

My 1LE rotors will not make it through another season safely.

1. Is there a difference between AC Delco and the GM Performance parts. Each MFR has a different part # for the front rotors.

2. I am looking at Both Front Rotors: for the best price:
- Rock auto $800 to my door
- Your Suggestion?

Thank you kindly,
~ Sean

Do a search for DBA rings - at least one person has installed these. I intend to see about these when the time comes.

The AC Delco and OEM Chevy stuff is the same.

DBA and Giro-Disc has ring options. Do a quick search and you'll find a decent amount on this topic.

Or just head over to KNS Break and look around.

To add what the previous fellas said.....

The GM/Brembo 2 piece rotor that came on the Gen5 2012-2015 ZL1 has the same ring specs as the Gen6 SS 1LE GM/Brembo rotor but the hat is different.

Since the Gen5 ZL1 rotor is cheaper, has both a left and right ring, is a good as the Gen6 rotor, why not buy this and swap out your Gen6 hat and install onto the Gen5 ring?

Gen6 rotors, #177-1193/177-1194, Rockauto price $745/pair
Gen5 rotors, #177-1145/177-1146, Rockauto price $595/pair

Or,

Brembo now has their own part # on the Gen5 ZL1 2 piece rotors. They look identical to the rotors that they source for GM:

#09A66513/09A66523, Rockauto price $337/pair
I have a set of these Brembos on the shelf for future use on my Gen5 SS 1LE with the 6 pistons. They look identical to the GM sourced 177-1145/177-1146 Brembos currently on my car.

If I had a Gen6 SS 1LE I would have no reservations about swapping hats. I have run the same C7 ZO6/GS DBA rings that BobT and Mountain mentioned. The DBA part #s are:

52770.1LS
52770.1RS

glamcem did the initial work on the Gen6 fitment
As mentioned I used the DBA on my Gen5, and they are an excellent ring.

I’m running DBA rotors with g-loc pads. Love the combo!

I used to do this, everyone is so scared to try it. I even tried to get ZZP who sells the CTS-V2 (again same rotors as 5th gen ZL1) big brake upgrade for Camaros, to sell me there caliper spacer so I wouldn't even have to switch hats. They wouldn't do it and tried to tell me the rotors are different and wouldn't work. It's annoying when vendors are wrong and won't listen. I could have used washers or made my own caliper spacers, but never got around to it. There are also 1 piece rotors in this CTS-V fitment for even more savings.

Damn those Brembos are cheap! There goes the justification of way cheaper brake rotors for my C6Z :pout:

Awesome info Jason!

So, to be clear if I get the #09A66513/09A66523 Rockauto price $337/pair brembo part # units I just need to switch my current hats over? Could I use the nuts and bolts that come on the new unit or should I buy new?

Yes, just swap your hats over to the Brembos. Go to the link in my post #4 for more info.
I've reused everything but the nuts. When I did the DBA rings, DBA supplied new nuts. Ken @ KNS Brakes also has new nuts.

cdb95z28 02-09-2021 10:27 PM

Honestly, I think I would source the correct high strength flanged locking nut and use high temp/high strength thread locker.

Thanks cdb95z28

TheRealJA105 02-10-2021 06:57 AM

I reused all the new hardware from the CTS-V rotors when I did mine with no issues

thescreensavers 02-10-2021 11:41 AM

That's awesome, huge savings!
