1980 corvette

Friend of mine knows of a 1980 corvette for sale...says it's all original with 33,000 miles only in great condition. Says the guy wants $12.000 for it. Says the guy doesn't know what he has...going to look at it Sunday. Can anybody give me an estimate of what that car may be worth? Thx.

I don't think that's too far from what it's worth, especially if it's an auto car. It may be worth $15k to the right buyer.

In fall of 79' I ordered an 80' vette . I got price protected as dealer said I could wait up to 6 mths for my car as it was the last year for the L82 engine. You got the L48 as the std engine. I got it it at the 79 price and paid $ 15,000 for it in Canadian funds , there were a couple price increases while I waited for my car to arrive. I ordered the L82and could have gotten it sooner if I got the L48 . window sticker was $ 21,000 and change . I felt I got a good deal at the time. I had it for 6 yrs and sold it for $ 15,000 to buy a house . So for me it's what someone is willing to pay and how badly do they want it ! I loved my car !

It really all depends upon the buyer. Some want all original, others don't mind some modifications. I have a 1980 that is immaculate, but also modified a bit. It has been over at the shop for a while having some additional nit-picky work done on it and they have had multiple offers from people wanting to buy it. Current offers are in the $20K to $24K range. They're serious offers from regular buyers at the shop. So really, it all depends on the car and the buyers... But I'd say, pending seeing the look and condition, that the price you're stating would be a pretty good deal.

Here's my baby:

She goes straight through to the side pipes and sounds awesome. In fact, I'm told the offers come in when they fire her up. :)

Thx for the replies...yea its gonna have to be in mint shape for me to really consider it..thought it would be worth more than it probably is though.

Well went and drove this 80 vette and it definitely is a lot slower than I thought it would be..felt like it was missing and has a crack in the fiberglass on the passenger side door...needs paint too... I think 12 grand is about right I guess...definitely not a steal.
