Why I'm not buying a 2020 SS.
I currently have a 17. About 28k miles 6 speed. I love the car but thought I would trade it in only if Chevy were to add a bump in HP and Tq to the current 6.2 engine to make it my while to do the upgrade. And with the new rally green which is the color I wanted anyway, as its close to the dark green metallic that the 2015s had. Not avail. though with the 2017.:cry:I ended up with black which is cool but still liked the Green better. If Chevy had managed to bump the HP or Tq another 15 or so ticks I would be placing my order now for a 2020 SS 6 speed in rally Green. Was bumping the HP and Tq really too much to ask for the 6.2?:noidea:

Ok.

Why not a Rally Green 2020 ZL1? That might be an alternative to the SS. Just a suggestion though.

GM won't bump it until Ford bumps theirs first. :smm7:

I think the LT1 is probably already maxed out as is from a manufacturer standpoint (of which they have to meet EPA and fuel mileage guidelines while keeping the car affordable for the masses) without the manufacturer going too crazy with it.
There's already a much more powerful version available (ZL1) is 455 HP on the street just isn't enough for ya. Besides at this point, what does it matter. Most people who want more end up modding and mod for mod you're likely going to end up with the same thing in the end. |
From an outside perspective, I don't think you would notice the additional 15 HP vs the 455, which I actually think is underrated as to not upset the older brother. I would bet these engines are same as the 460 rated base vette.

The LT1 is definitely not maxed out from the factory. |

Quicker 0-60, quicker 1/4 mile, higher top speed, handles better by far, stops faster. |

GM never bumped the hp on the 5th gen. Why should the 6th gen be any different? They don't bump power, they just add trim packages and call them "special editions". I guess they figure it would cost too much money to make any variations on their standard engines. I miss the "good old days" where they had many different options for engines. In the 1st gen cars you could get something like 15 different engines from inline 6 cylinders to epic monster big blocks like the ZL-1. Imagine a LS model with a LT4 or LT5. That thing would be insane and a crazy sleeper!
