Oil Capacity of 6.2L V8 Engine SS?

Is it ten quarts or is it more?
I just changed out my Oil and Filter for the first time at 1200 miles.
Rode around for two plus hours.
She's been siting in the garage now for about 24 hours. ( Cold )
The Dipstick is showing just shy of one half quart low.
I'm guessing half a quart because she's about in the middle of the xxxx area.

Do I need to top her off?
Or, should I look at this as being full?
I did pour in 2 Gallons of oil. Nothing leaked out. My wife came out and watched. I have witnesses.

In the Performance supplement, it states to change your oil and run " 11 " quarts at the track. I'm going to guess I wont be doing any damage adding another 1/2 quart.
Should I?

Um... 2 gallons = 8 quarts, not 10.

The spec is for 10 quarts. When I change mine, it seems to take a little more than 10 to bring it to the top of the dipstick mark. (like a few ounces more, I can't recall exactly how much, maybe as much as half a quart)

The capacity is 10 quarts. Not any more, not any less. But you can’t look at the capacity of the engine and determine how much you should put in. Because you really don’t know how much came out of the engine. some stays in, unless you want to do some type of flush .... It could vary by 1/2 quart.

So put in 90% of 10 quarts, and then start pouring 2 ounces in , check, until it’s mid hash on the dipstick…

This also isn't true. You need to add 1 qt of oil for the LS/LT 1LE (i.e. 4/6 cyl engines), not the LT1 or LT4.

Sorry, I meant the Mobil 1 Containers that hold 5 quarts.
I poured two of them in.

I just tried to look this up again. Apparently, the add one more quart of oil is only mentioned in the Canadian Perf Supplement. Are the Camaro's in Canada different than the USA Camaro's? Lol

Nope, no difference in the cars. Maybe someone goofed on the Canadian version of the supplement? The US supplement still mentions adding oil, but says only "for LS/LT 1LE, add 0.9 L (1.0 qt) of oil over the nominal fill level for a track event."

I agree. But, the Capacity is 10 quarts. I drained and replaced with 10 quarts. Why am I reading almost 1/2 Qt low on the dipstick? Engine cold, Car on level ground in the garage, sitting for better than a day.

How do you know that it is exactly a half a quart down? Where is the oil level on the stick, or is it not registering on the stick at all?

See what it is if you Start checking it after shutting off the engine after 3-5 minutes, not completely cold.

The range reading on the dipstick. There are two solid lines on the dipstick with multiple X's running up between the solid lines. I'm a little over one half up on the X's. I'm guessing that between the solid lines is one quart.

This is my c7 but the Concept is the same. 1/2-3/4 up the hash area is the perfect fill for me....
