LT4 Billet Thermostat Housing - Granatelli FTW
For those of you wondering if you should upgrade the thermostat housing to a billet unit... DO IT NOW!!
I was doing some line rerouting around the engine bay and needed to remove the small house on the t-stat housing, but the house was baked in and when I pulled the plastic barb snapped off. Not a big deal to me, as I figured Id just tap the hole and install a bras barb so I picked up what I needed and proceeded to repair it... soon after I realized how brittle the housing really is, the damn thing pretty much kept crumbling with every attempt and lastly I just shoved a hollow tubing and siliconed it in as a temp repair.
I ordered a Granatelli housing with a 180* LS3 T-stat on a Sunday, called on Monday to ensure they shipped asap and they shipped that very afternoon (Kudos Granatelli for the awesome support). However, to my dismay UPS had issues and delivered 4 days after the original estimated date. Finally received the part, super nicely packaged and beautifully finished, the t-stat looks oe grade and expect no issues long term (time will tell).
Finally had a chance to do the swap which went super smooth specially considering I have an XDI fuel pump which uses one of the t-stat bolts for mounting and requires it to be rotated out of the way, so I switch my green belt to an RPM belt on shot.
See the attached images for ilustration.
Ill be logging the for engine temp next week and check for differences.
