That sucks but it looks mainly cosmetic, hopefully no structure was damages, find a great body shop and get it fixed up right.. My fear every time I take my "weekend fun car" out into the public of nutty drivers...

I live in Florida and I have to drive thinking some idiot will crash into me at anytime. The stupidity over here is at all times high. I’m always watching out for people pulling out of parking spaces because a lot of them don’t even look

And dont get me started about the amount of people who just cut you off and dont even accelerate to match your speed.

Anyway, I’m sorry. That blue color is so pretty, I’d be pissed

Thanks. It is such a nice color. And I am pissed. Not just because of the damage but because of the hassle of the entire ordeal and the time and effort involved in putting it back to what it was.

I'm such a defensive driver. I'm always watching out for stupid, distracted and inconsiderate drivers. This lady just came out of nowhere. I literallydidn't see her untila split second beforeimpact. I would have never thought someone would have come out of this particular business without seeing another car. It's so close to a busy intersection with a traffic light. The parking lot is literally on the corner of the intersection. Plus she was on the wrong side of the driveway cut. I really don't think she saw me at all. She is from out of state and the side of the drive she was on is partially obstructed by some low shrubbery. I was approaching the red light with several cars stopped at the light in front of me when she hit me. I was going so slow that I was able to pull into same driveway cut to the left of her after the collision.

Sorry to see that, but at least it seems to be purely cosmetic.

See if you can tell the body shop to keep your old parts (front bumper and the wheel) as those are salvagable and can be repaired as spares, or whatever.

 I am in the mid section.

Good luck with the car

Oh Man!! This hurts to see. I haven’t had my car but a couple months and have already had some close calls that would have been worse if I wasn’t paying close attention to other drivers.

I too am glad you are okay. I believe you said you have a good body shop to work with. Here’s to them making it like brand new!!!

Thanks. I thought about keeping the wheel. I think it can be repaired by a good rim repair company, but I hadn't considered the front facia. That's a good idea. The fender is completely ruined. I know the body shop owner so keeping those items shouldn't be an issue.

Gotcha. I didn't realize that you were in NC.

And thanks. I suppose I'll see this week once I can talk to the insurance adjuster.

I let out a few painful noises seeing the pics. You have my condolences as well man. Definitely don't accept any deal from their insurance until it's a deal you're more than comfortable with and that should definitely include diminished value since your car will forever be branded as involved in an accident. Hate to bring up pain, but you've got to deal with that insurance company until you get absolutely everything you're due. They will try to lowball you the entire time. If negotiations aren't going your way, don't hesitate to bring up the "lawyer" word. They typically quit lowballing after that. I've been through this. Never settle for the first offer.

Thanks Darkfader. I let out a few four letter words when it happened myself! I was in shock at that point. Now I'm :mad0259: I've filed a claim and waiting to hear from the adjuster. I also spoke with the owner of the body shop I've dealt with before about how backed up they are. It might be the beginning of July before they can get to it.

Don't worry I know quite a few attorneys. I'm not going to settle until I'm satisfied.

adamjwilson 03-27-2023 12:24 PM

Man.. I am so sorry to see that happen! :mad0260:
I know you post alot here, so keep us posted on the progress and your car back to like new again!

I just seen this , I as well feel bad for you , like you stated , I think most of us try to do our best to keep an eagle eye out for the drivers that are distracted, always in a hurry , or plain don't care .
You were going very slow , that was a good thing. I to 46 years ago was taken out by a guy who ran a stop sign , didn't give a rats a$$ he did,
said it was my fault , and my car was old and a piece of junk. Lucky there was an old guy reading the paper on his front porch , and came to my rescue, witness an all. My pride and joy was totaled. ZPirate I'm sure all will work out , stay diligence on the Insurance company , I'm glad you found a good shop .
Oh I almost forgot , and the old piece of junk, as that jerk referred to , was a 1965 Oldsmobile 442
one owner 50k garaged kept , a guy my Dad worked with , was selling . The year was 1975.
Out of all bad , sometimes good arises . With the insurance settlement , I purchased my 1st Camaro 1968 SS .

Thanks. No, NC is a fault state. Thankfully she got a ticket. The accident report isn't available yet, but it should show she is at fault. Hopefully her insurance company want be too hard to deal with. It's Allstate.

glad that no one was hurt. Every insurance is hard to deal with, they don't want to pay. Make sure you take the car to the dealership to get it fixed and only get OEM parts.

Lupine 1LE 03-27-2023 03:38 PM

Well this sucks. My wife got hit in another car not the 1LE and I learned...
1) Don't cash any checks until all is said and done.
2) Insurance Co. will send out a low ball offer in hopes you take the money and pocket it and move on. (not reality on this car)
3) Good relationship with the auto body shop as they can argue for more money and usually do well. Its all a game.

You sound like you have this well in hand, its just the BS of the process to work thru.
