LT5 coming to ZL1??
|
Guesswork and speculation, and a lot of what he said in the beginning has some truth but isn't accurate (it's the LT1/M6/non-NPP that you can't get, not all manuals), and he has a lot of misinformation in there (Cadillac is on Alpha 2 platform, Camaro is Alpha 1 - he says they're the same platform). And the LT5 is already cancelled, any "spares" they have laying around are going to be reserved for warranties on previous sales. In short, doubt it's going to happen and wouldn't believe it til GM says so officially.
|
I would imagine that the cost could be over $100,000 for an LT5 Camaro since the ZR1 Corvette was around $150,000.
|
LT5 is going away except as a crate motor.
|
That’s what I’m thinking too!

I didn't watch the video, but the LT5 has been discontinued: https://www.motortrend.com/news/gm-l...-discontinued/

A more relevant question is if the revised LT4 that is in the CT5-V Blackwing is coming to the ZL1?
|
The Blackwing makes ~18HP more stock, you can get that easily with a CAI and a tune on the Camaro LT4. Unless there's something that makes the Blackwing version easier to do port injection or servicing on I wouldn't feel too neglected with my LT4 Camaro.

Here's an awesome build - 416 stroker w/LT5 blower, 1200 hp

If Cadillac won't put LT5 in CT5-V because the chassis can't handle it and it won't fit, they won't put it in an older and smaller chassis, IMO. I think they should, but I doubt it.
An LT5 might compel me to try to get into one because the PI and all that, but I have pretty much everything I want now. This could be interesting though... |
It would be amazing if it comes to fruition. But as always, take it with a grain of salt.

Side note, You can not tune the CT5-V either...it's global b like the C8 and will likely never be tuneable. |
