Tuning Questions
Hello,
How do you tune a Camaro? Which handheld device are people using? As well as do you have to swap the PCM like in the Mopars because of the PCM being locked and untunable? Last question is who’s a good email tuner? I hear a lot about Pray Performance. |
Most on this forum prefer HP Tuners. You do not have to swap the PCM, but you do have to send your TCM to HP Tuners for them to unlock it if you want to tune your transmission.

There is a company is Houston Texas that can now tune 2020+ A10 cars. You have to use them for the tuning service. Cost is like 1200.00. They give you a different TCM unlocked. Not sure if they figured out how to get a T87 to work or if they figured out how to unlock the T93...they seem to be keeping the details on the Low.

So much conflicting info on the internet... hopefully you guys can give it to me straight. I have a 2017 Camaro 2SS... A lot of instructions/documentation states the ECU has to be unlocked on 2017+ by sending it in for an "unlock". But it sounds like HPTuners devices will handle that on 2017+ (maybe up to 2020 from what I read above?) without having to send the PCM/ECU in anywhere?

The TCM (trans controller) is the one on 2017-2019 models that needs to be physically sent in to HPT for an unlock before it can be licensed and tuned. |
Sorry to jump on the thread, but would I need to get the TCM unlocked for simple bolt ons? I am getting headers with full exhaust, CAI, E-85. Don't know if getting the TCM unlocked would give me a big advantage. Will definitely get it unlock once I go procharge.

I have a 2019 2SS and sent my ecu to hptuners and everything was unlocked, there’s a total of 11 credits that you will need. Just be prepared to wait at least a week.
