Carbon hood insert removal

Since I haven't seen this posted anywhere yet, I figured I'd make a thread on it. I'm replacing my hood insert today, and decided to take some pictures of how it mounts. For what it's worth, my exposed insert had a large hazy section and a weird indentation present the day I picked it up. My dealer was able to get a warranty replacement, and are cool enough to let me swap it out myself.

It's held on by about 10 bolts, 2 clips, and some foam tape. Removal is pretty easy, though getting the tape to release takes a little effort. Then it just lifts up from the top. I'm not sure if the new part comes with tape, but I'll know soon enough. I'm probably going to have it wrapped in protective film before I put it back on the car. It's crazy how easy it scratches.

search this forum, a guy wrote a DIY with pics etc, he makes notes on bolt lengths, pretty important.

The bolts you need to remove are all the same length -- besides the 3 for the removable water deflector. There are shorter bolts that hold the metal plate to the hood, but you don't need to remove those.

I printed it and gave it to the service guy when they replaced mine.

Wish I'd seen that first, though it was very easy to figure out. The hardest part was getting the tape to release at the rear of the insert. It was so easy, I put the new insert in and will take it back out to have it wrapped when my installer is available.
