1LE beats SS auto in roll race
That’s pretty cool and surprising that it beat the 10 speed auto.

LOL. The auto guy was using his paddles. If he knew had to drive and just let the car shift on it’s own, I doubt the outcome would be the same.
I think the 3:73 in the 1LE is a factor
Let's not forget G3 sticky tires :)
If the 1LE driver would have used NLS it would have been even better!.
yeah not surprised with gearing. I always get asked that question if i believe i could take an auto with same bolt ons as me.
depends on driver / tires i would have to say. my 1le on stock street tires doesn't know what hooking means. |
How about the extra 200-250 pounds in the passenger seat of the auto...
I think the main difference is the 200lb passenger.

The gears the extra passenger and from a roll all help the manual. Fun race though |

The 10 speed is not as efficient on power either vs the 8 speed it replaced. Stock 16-18 autos were 400-405 wheel, the 10 speed cars come out 390ish HP. They gain a mechanical advantage in gearing and help the 60' times, but they give most of it back after the first shift.
A lot of manual cars stock have pulled over 410hp, so it is a 20-25hp difference. Throw on top of it that if the auto car was out and driving around so the trans is hot already, it is probably even more. I myself have been out running a lot on the weekends and have been "giant killing" a lot of cars that have 75-100hp more than me from rolls because they have built engines / boost but stock converters & transmissions. Have to remember that a auto trans gives up 15% of power right out of the gate. Yea, they have lock up converters but that is only effective while cruising. |
after watching the vid. oof. i’d say that was a solid 5 mph difference. no passenger and whatever else wouldn’t matter, the granny shifting stick car would still walk.
