AWE axleback and smoked reflector install
I know you’ve all seen this before but it’s new to me, so here’s yet another thread. :smiling1:
Axleback arrives tomorrow, so today was suitcase removal, prep for Axleback install and smoked reflector install. Did everything with no help. No problems and didn’t take long at all. Removal was easy with my 4 post lift. I left suitcase on the hangers until the cuts were made. Wiring connectors waterproofed and zip tied up out of sight. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/pictu...ctureid=165425 https://www.camaro6.com/forums/pictu...ctureid=165423 |
These reflector screws were insanely difficult to R&R, even with the suitcase out of the way. I can’t imagine doing that job with it in place.

I resisted the urge to fire it up and go for a drive with muffler delete. I’m not sure if it would set any trouble codes. Anyone tried it?

Now driving it with the hot exhaust gases coming straight out of the cutouts, without heat deflectors directing the hot exhaust gases towards the ground, may melt some of your wiring harnesses back there. I wouldn’t recommend it. FWIW. |

Bold move, I did the same with my truck, pulled everything in anticipation of my fancy stainless MagnaFlow exhausts arrival as per tracking. UPS "miss-sorted" and it ended up in Rockland Maine, I don't live in Maine... I have a truck up in the air for a few more days.
Get these, way better than silicone paste and a plastic bag. https://www.gen5diy.com/products/16-...-exhaust-plugs |

Hope you get your exhaust soon. |
you will get a code for the exhaust flap actuators if you disconnected them which I see present on your factory suitcase.
|
I did the AWE touring axle back on my 19 ZLE and no codes with the actuators disconnected and the sound is amazing with no drone at cruising speed, you hear it when you get on it.

I didn't pull any fuses, just unplugged the actuators, taped them up and tucked them away.

CW3SF, so the AWE gets rid of the "squished" pipes too?
