Sparco Alpha race seat install
1 Attachment(s)
I decided to swap out my drivers seat for a full blown track setup. I choose the Sparco Alpha vs the Sparco EVO II. The Alpha is a wider seat then the EVO II but the shoulder harness holes are better suited for a lengthy torso individual.
I used the Planted 6th Gen seat mount with OMP sliders. I had to mount the seat directly to the sliders to gain enough head/helmet space since I also have a sunroof making the available height 1" less. I also wanted to retain all the OE seat belt components as well as keeping the other 9 airbags functional in the car. To do this I striped the Drivers seat harness out and used it as a template to design my own version that only contains the critical wiring for the SRS system. The car is a fully optioned 2016 2SS so seat heater/cooling is removed. I designed a harness that defeats the airbag light and SRS system keeping the airbags functional. Currently waiting to install the BK Auto harness bar and rear seat delete kit. Added some pics for those curious. Also thinking about making full SRS delete kits for both driver and passenger seats. Anyone interested? PM me and if there is enough interest I'll dedicate the time to build the full delete kit or specific driver/passenger options. |
Interested.

Interested. Have Sparco EVO II’s gathering dust in my basement.

Sweet!
I was so close to getting an Alpha but I couldn't decide if the Shoulders were to wide or not. But it looks like it fits. NICE! Thanks for posting. Feel free to give us updates or share some of your secrets :) |
wow thats crazy how much time and money did that take you and do you know 100% if the airbags would still work or just hoping? lol
|
Interested. Do you know how much net weight reduction you got compared to stock.

Are you planning on 5/6 point harnesses or Scroth DOT harnesses?
If you are going true harnesses you may, at a minimum, want to go with a roll bar rather than a BK harness bar. As you are likely aware with a track shell and 5/6 point harness you will be upright in a roll over when the roof collapses. |
Hey is the harness plug/jumper something you started producing for the guys wanting to run race seats?
|
Also interested. Thanks

Definitely interested.

Just buy the seat wiring harnesses. 84280995 for the passenger side and 84280991 for the driver's side. Get a resistor for the airbag, swap over memory function control module, passenger occupancy sensor.
Super simple. |
In for airbag harness.... would be nice to get rid of the airbag light

It's been proven the hard way that the airbags still function when the light is on. I also talked to the guy at Gen5DIY about this issue, but he can only say he's working on it. Haha, just noticed this post is over 2 years old
