TSB Number 17209 - potential issues when lowering top

Dropped my car off last night to have the side skirts and rear diff. fluid changed. Just got an e-mail from my Dealership that they received a recall on my car on Friday. They are going to fix it while it is there. First one for them.

No specifics, but I was advised the recall is for an issue with the convertible top not lowering properly.

UPDATE - Apparently it is not a "re-call" (as advised by my Dealer), but rather a Technical Service Bulletin - It is TSB Number 17209 - Released June 20, 2017. It is in regards to a "potential issue" when lowering the Roof top.

Please keep us posted. I ran a quick check this morning and the GM Recall Center doesn't list any recalls for my 2016 convertible.

Kaizer_911 created a thread about it here.

Took mine in yesterday to have this TSB done. Part was ordered and only took 2 days to arrive. Install was less than 2-minutes. They didn't even move the car out of the Service Bay entrance......:thumb:

I also have this listed as part of my TSB
Hope it's something minor

Convertible Top Recall Notice (12/14/17)

Hi guys..... to update this thread .... got a call from my dealer and they want me to bring in my 2016 LT1 2SS 'vert for a folding top "fix". I've got less than 7k on the car with no problems but apparently it needs a tweak. (12/14/17). They checked with the parts dept. and the part is in stock. I've got one free oil change left on warranty so I'll have both done at that time. Service Adviser said, "yes, this is a recall notice".

Just trying to add to our great knowledge base.

Here are the part numbers in the recall:

Does this replace the divider between the top area and the trunk? If so, I think they did mine while it was in for an oil change today. It looks new AND it does not stay up any longer. Its so loose that, if I barely push on it it will pop off. If I had a bag in the trunk and hit my brakes the new one will come down as soon as the bag put pressure on it - which would make the trunk inoperable whether its up or down. How well does everyone elses stay attached?

Posting a link to my other thread about this TSB for future reference - looks like there might be issues with the replacement part.....

Recall 17209 - Completed

Just wanted to chime in.

I just bought this car less than a week ago and the seller took it in for an inspection, it's first oil change as well as to fix one of the little black cover panels that pops into place after lowering the top. The one on the driver's side. See Pic.

While it was there, the dealer also performed recall #17209 on the car, but I do not know what part was replaced. Could just be this black cover piece, but the recall seems to state that it is for a top that will not lower at all rather than this plastic piece getting jacked up.

I saw this on two of the Camaro's that I test drove btw.

Sincerely,
Tex

I've had that part replaced at least three times and have had too many issues to count with that rear corner of the convertible top.
