Dealers whom aren’t in the ‘know’ on the 1LE...

I’m ready to purchase a 1LE.

I have the funds, and ideally, I’d like to own one before next weekend.

I’ve been to several Chevrolet dealerships local to me in SoCal, but so far, everyone is telling me that the 1LE is special ordered, and only comes with a 2ss trim level, which starts in the $50k range. I’m definitely not paying anywhere near $50k for a 1LE. That’s in ‘slightly used ZL1’ territory.

This is what I’m being told...

I know that the 1LE, 1ss version has a ‘Head-up display’, because I’ve test driven one. The non-1LE, 1ss does NOT has a ‘head-up display. Dealers are telling me that they’re searching 500mile radius and not coming up with anything...

It’s frustrating having to point trim levels out on a car, to a car salesperson, who’s job is to know that in the first place.

It’s because in their system they see 1LE and it references the appearance pack or suspension and not the full 1LE pack. I forget the name in their system but it was like “performance track package”. Make sure to tell them it’s a 7000 opt on the SS. I ran into this when looking for mine, at 3 different dealers I called.

When purchasing a Colorado 2 1/2 years ago, I had to go to Indianapolis from ~ Milwaukee. The dealer near me said they did a "500 mile" search and nothing was coming up in the system. I called Penske Chevy on a used one they had, while I was sitting at my dealer. Turns out it got sold within a half hour of me calling, but they located one across town, brand new...... Milwaukee to Indianapolis is 300 miles! Yet my dealer couldn't find it and it was well within their search range? So, I'd say you may be better off looking for your own vehicle and taking a trip to get what you want.

There are ways a dealers can keep a car out of locator. Sometimes if it’s a hot car they just don’t want all the excessive calls, they want to try to get the big money themselves for a couple months. So they report it as a factory loaner/service demo/executive demo… Which in many cases will keep it off the locator.

Listen to my post and ignore the other guys.
Here’s one 35 miles from 90210.

Just search auto trader for the following:

New
2018-current
36k-46k price range
Camaro ss
Manual trans

Then sort and look at MSRP, if it’s 46k, it’s likely a 1LE

Or this one; click on window sticker and you see it’s got the 1LE track performance package
This is in Long Beach:

It looks to me like GM has vastly improved their website recently
.
In Canada i can now access every single vehicle in all dealers inventory based on a postal code.

So go to GM USA and start shopping based on your zip code. You should be able to narrow it down to 2019 1SS plus select 1LE package. Dont worry about the rest of details. After you get to a deal Summary Page, you should see Search Inventory option. This should link you to official GM inventory for each dealer within whatever range of your zip code. All vehciles in the search have supporting pix so it is super easy to spot a 1le.

Should the US website not be as advanced search wise, try CarGurus as they also have access to all NEW GM inventory nationally.

Skip the step of asking a dealer to locate you one. Firstly most dont know what a 1le is. Secondly, they may not wish to send you to a competing dealer. Before i found my 1le i had 3 dealers looking for one. They found none. But i thankfully i did :) PS back then i did it via CarGurus.

Best of luck shopping!

+ 1 for Cargurus I use them all the time.

Call Chevy customer service and they can immediately tell you where cars are and with what options. Worked perfect for me.

This! When I got mine at the end of 2017, I went on the Chevy website, specced a 1LE and checked inventory for them at all my local Chevy dealers. I walked into the dealer with a printout, with the inventory number, and said "bring me this car."

Dont depend on dealers. They will try to sell you what they have ON the lot that day. Just use Auto Trader and Car Gurus. A quick search and there is PLENTY to pick from within a 500 mile radius from you.

Buy a cheap plane ticket to KC, MO. 1ss 1le's sell for high 30s here all day.

go to autotrader and set the range to 500 miles. Pick a new one for the cheapest you can find, Disregard color, they all look good. Dont get caught up with a certain dealership and CERTAINLY do not do a casual walk in anywhere, their list prices in person are about 3 grand higher than online. Find you one on autotrader, then go from there.
